Marquette was impressive. They shot well down the stretch and tough pressure defense caused buku turnovers for BYU. They were out of their league in this one. They had heart though, got the score down to an eight point difference in the second half. Marquette was just too much. Jae shaking hands with BYU's coach Rose there at the end of the game was a nice courtesy. Good job and good luck Marquette.
dame my boys played a great game im telling you i would not be surprised at all to see my boys in blue and gold in the finial four and if somebody can knock michigan st. out before elite 8 i almost can punch our ticket in the finial four cause there the only team in our bracket that causes us some problems with there size.
College basketball is so much more intriguing and entertaining than the pro game, especially at this level. The hustle and grit these young players exhibit involves the audience more, especially when school loyalties are involved. Nothing else like March Madness anywhere.
AWSOME JOB MARQUETTE!!!!!!! You no what else i find pretty awsome? BYU FANS!!!!! Reading these posts its easy to see that they are first class!! So congrats to BYU on there season and there huge comeback win over Iona!!! With Marquette being a #3 seed along with there 2nd place finish in the Big East regular season is it really that unbelievable that this team could wind up in the final 4? I think they just may have it in them to make that run led by Crowder. Next up is Murray St. who has lost only 1 game all year and that deserves attention and respect. With that said theres a big difference in there strength of schedules. Look for Murray St. to play hard and be tuff to beat, which Marquette will 91-79 GO MARQUETTE!!!
go marquette
what is it with WISCONSIN sports that is just astounding!!!!!!!!!!!!
That Milwaukee school will be bounced out soon.
Great headline! I hope every team that "holds them off" Only wins by 20! It could have been heart attack city if you only win by 15.
yawn
Too bad BYU can't play Iona every game.
Too much for my Cougars to handle. I guess Marquette wasn't willing to gift wrap this one for us like Iona did. Proud of those Cougars through. Good luck to Marquette. Classy group of guys!
We are marquette
Thank you Cougars for a great season. Though you fell short of your dreams this year, the future looks bright. Sad to see Noah and Charles graduate. You were always inspirational. Hope for the best for you.
hold off?...makes it sound like it was close??......nice job marquett!
I give credit for BYU for coming back, but they just ran out of gas cuz near the end of the game they airballed 2 "3" point shots. Props to Marquette for having an answer to every BYU comeback attempt! Gonna be hard for any team to guard Jae Crowder.
BYU will never have a chance against a Big East team. Never.
No miracle this time!! Bye, bye..BYU. You should have never been in the tourney this year. The only thing that kept this game from being an absolute runaway was the lax officiating in the second half. BYU stepped up its defensed indeed - - - to a mugging in most cases (which went uncalled). Fortunately, the maturity (I'm not talking about age her either) and tough rebounding of Marquette prevailed.
Marquette looks like a very dangerous team. If they get hot, they will be fun to watch.
Should the headline really read "Holds Off" in a 20 point win?
These play-in games are stupid. Pick the top 64 and let everyone have an equal footing.
Crowder was impressive today. 25 and 16 against any team is a very good day at the office. Marquette is looking like they want to be serious about a run this year.
I figured the Lords of Kolob would intervene to give unto them this game. But alas.
I love seeing the positivity in the comments about Jae and Marquette, especially since there were soooo much negativity and complaints about Jae winning Big East POY, as if he wasn't deserving of it. Anyone that has watched one Marquette game knows he's absolutely awesome, as is DJO. He's been doing an amazing job with Marquette, especially in the latter half of the season. He fills the stat sheet game after game so I thought it was absurd for certain ppl to write him off as a "slightly average player". Marquette is a great team. Buzz is a great coach. I'm rooting for the home team to go deep into the tournament. Do I smell Final Four? :) I hope so...
