Five Reasons Why There's More to World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria Than Meets the Eye

By Nathan Grayson | PC Previews | Mar 19, 2012 12:01 AM | Comment

So, pandas. If you paid attention to last year's bombardment of BlizzCon coverage or -- I don't know -- the expansion's name, you could be forgiven for thinking World of Warcraft's latest is one-trick panda-commandeered pony. "Blizzard's jumped the shark," you might say. "How long until the 'What's your game' commercial starring Jack Black?" Pandaria, however, is a big place, and I ventured deep into the heart of Blizzard's headquarters last week to dispel Mists' myths. Here's what I uncovered. Read More »

BioWare Admits Fans "Needed More Closure, More Answers" from Mass Effect 3 Ending

By Nick Winter | PC News | Mar 18, 2012 7:06 AM | Comment

As more and more gamers complete Mass Effect 3, the amount of internet rage directed against the RPG's controversial ending is quickly reaching boiling point. In an attempt to sooth this increasingly rabid fan anger, executive producer Casey Hudson has written a lengthy post on the official BioWare forums. While he doesn't go so far as to promise the studio will change the ending, he does hint that BioWare is developing new DLC and that players' "insights and constructive feedback will help determine what that content should be." Hmm... interesting. Read More »

Portal 2 Wins Best Game Award at BAFTA

By Nick Winter | PC News | Mar 18, 2012 6:58 AM | Comment

Do you like Portal 2? I sure do. So do British gamers, it seems, because Valve's quirky puzzle-shooter picked up the "Best Game" award at this year's British Academy Video Games Awards (or BAFTA, for short). Portal 2 got the nod over Batman: Arkham City, Skyrim, and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. The other big winner of the night was Battlefield 3, which took home three awards, including Online Multiplayer, Audio Achievement and the GAME public choice award. Read More »

By Nick Winter | PC News | Mar 17, 2012 8:41 AM | Comment

It might be one of the grand-daddies of the MMO genre, and one of the longest running subscription-based games in history, but EverQuest has finally joined the hip and happenin' free-to-play club. Sony Online Entrainment has just flicked the switch on the free-to-play variant of its classic MMORPG... and now every man, woman and child on earth has the chance to develop an "Evercrack addiction", no matter what of their status of their bank account. This could be the end of humanity as we know it... Read More »

Mass Effect 3's controversial ending may have left a bad taste in the mouths of many longtime fans, but it hasn't turned gamers away from the epic sci-fi RPG completely. Instead, fans seem to be flocking to the multiplayer mode, and as proof, BioWare has released a startling new statistic: Mass Effect 3 players have notched up almost two millennia worth of playtime in less than two weeks. Stalker 2 Still in Development, No Release Date Yet

By Nick Winter | PC News | Mar 17, 2012 8:19 AM | Comment

Well, this is certainly good news! Ukrainian developer GSC has assured its fans that the in-doubt first-person shooter, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, is very much alive and kicking. Rumors have been rife that the apocalyptic FPS was in severe financial difficulty, despite claims that the team was actually just on an extended holiday break. GSC has now taken to twitter to quash the rumors once and for all, stating that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is on track for release... sometime in the future. Read More »

Firaxis' XCOM remake looks like one of the standout strategy releases of 2012. Impressive graphics, awesome killcams, hardcore tactical gameplay, extensive customizations, and now, mod support! Well... hopefully. The Top 10 Best Superhero PC Games

By Chuck Osborn | PC Articles | Mar 16, 2012 6:00 PM | Comment

Games starring caped crusaders, mutants, and strange visitors from other worlds have a long, if not necessarily proud, tradition. And while consoles have gotten the lion's share of decent superhero games, the PC has been home to most of the ones that DON'T make you want to rip out your adamantium claws just so you can stab them into your eyes. To help celebrate WonderCon 2012, we've compiled a list of the 10 best superhero games that you can still play on the PC (okay, technically more than 10, but 10 is a nice, round number). So, assemble your avengers and gather together your titans -- the reading of the list is nigh! Read More »

New Grim Dawn Trailer Makes Diablo 3 Sweat

By Nathan Grayson | PC News | Mar 16, 2012 4:22 PM | Comment

Diablo III's finally about to ascend from development hell, but I'll be the Lord of the Damned himself if Grim Dawn doesn't look primed to rain on Blizzard's parade. It heralds from veterans of Iron Lore Entertainment -- aka, the folks who made Titan Quest -- and holy hammer of +1 to phrases ending in "Batman," Batman, does it look excellent. The new Occultist class trailer is chock full of hard-hitting, suitably grim chaos. Enemies swarm, spell effects dance all about, and buildings splinter in the crossfire. The only downside? It's still pre-alpha. Watch the trailer after the break. Watch it and salivate. Read More »

Borderlands 2 Touts 87 Bazillion PC-Only Features

By Nathan Grayson | PC News | Mar 16, 2012 3:30 PM | Comment

OK, maybe not quite 87 bazillion, but Borderlands 2 is righting the wrongs made by BL1's PC version and then some. And -- just to make sure we get the message -- Gearbox sent along a winding, oftentimes incredibly creepy love letter from Claptrap, whose thrumming poetic language inspires such powerful emotions as gratitude and my fight or flight response. Among other things, he mentions an FOV slider, a PC-specific UI, LAN support, fully remappable controls, cloud saves, native multiplayer matchmaking, and a bunch of things I don't feel comfortable repeating here. So read the (hilarious) letter or -- if you're wary of robot cooties -- check out the full list of features after the break. Read More »
