D@%$ BRONCOS!
Let me QB this whole thing for you. The name Tim has three letters, and so does the name GOD.
The name Tebow has five letters, and so does the name Jesus.
Oh no, the city of Denver has six letters, and so does Heaven!
Jehovah, (the proper name of the God of Israel), seven letters, gulp and the name Broncos has seven letters.
This is a big problem for me as a Raiders fan, but unless you are a Raiders fan too, maybe you should back off of Tebow and his faith.
In a world where we have shows dedicated to embracing wealth, and celebrity athletes who worship themselves, I think its a much needed and refreshing change to have an athlete who carries himself with humility and gives something else other than himself credit for their talent and ability and what we see them doing on the field every week. Many other athletes would be gloating about their performance, renogotiating their contracts, partying on the strip, and looking for endorsements from companies to ‘show them the money.’
And yet the outrage we hear from athletes, former athletes, and others on Tebow, is because of his faith?
Where was your outrage when your teammates and/or favorite players were accused of cheating? Shooting up? Rape? Domestic violence? Even murder?
Joe Flacco was barking that he was watching ESPN’s Sportscenter and it would be a highlight and then Tebow, a highlight and then Tebow etc…How did you play yesterday Flacco?
Get over it Joe, if you had enough highlights maybe we’d see you a little more. Sorry, that wasn’t very ‘tebow’ of me.
Yet this kid, 24 years young, and born in1987 during an era of straight-up excess, does something amazing on the field and then genuflects (like so many others I might add) and gives thanks to his creator, and prays with humility, rather than pound his chest and scream ‘look at me’ and yet this stirs people up and draws there expletive ire that’s fueled by an alcohol-ingested rage at an NFL game?
How messed up are you?
Are you sick of Tim Tebow?
Here’s some advice: get over it.
I just saw an article out of the St. Petersburg Times where the writer explains Tebow’s faith in God as ‘self-efficacy’; to say that Tebow’s Christian beliefs are simply Tony Robbins mantra’s of a self-fulfilling prophecy. Thanks sports guru, but we don’t need your help on this.
Why are so many of us in the media afraid to just say, ‘hey I think it’s really cool this kid loves his faith and is humble?’
Do we fear a backlash from those that are God-less, atheists, and agnostics? So what? I’m not afraid of that, I say BRING IT ON.
If you believe one word of the Bible, you might as well believe it all, I say.
If you believe God spoke the universe into existence, then how hard is it to believe the story of Jonah being inside the whale? That would be nothing for God to do.
Like Leo Brown and Mike Allen would say; What if it is true? With kudos to Real life radio 94.9fm and 1380am.
What if there is a God? Where will all of the non-believers be then at worlds end?
Hey good luck with that non-believers!
But because we know Tebow believes it and freely admits it, this intrigues the interest of so many that he becomes a focal point for rage and criticism. Let’s also remember it was not by his choice either. He has never screamed for people to listen to him about his faith.
Websites are dedicated to hating him. Why?
Are they afraid of his message? Or worse, of his message spreading and people liking it?
This almost certainly begs the question, why is a country like ours, founded on Christian principles, tearing down a kid raised with Christian principles?
Tim Tebow is hated by lots of people but many, many more respect his views on faith and that he is not afraid to show it.
Here’s what we know of Tim Tebow: He’s a great young man, who’s humble, who prays, and he respects all people, and loves God, plus he’s happy (all the time, like a walking billboard for prozac, zoloft, and paxil all rolled into one mega-super-happy pill), he loves his family and his teammates, he witnesses to death row inmates in the summer, and gives away alot of time and money to charity, he’s saving himself for marriage, he cares about others and respects their faith, and then prays for those without faith.
Yet somehow this attracts others to hate him?
More than likely it’s attracting resentment. Or resentment of Tebow based on someone else’s lowered sense of self-worth.
Tim Tebow is the best thing to happen to the world of the superstar-athlete role-models.
He is who you want your son to be mom. Honest, humble, loving, hardworking, and has faith in God.
Did you know that USA Today reported just a few weeks ago that the word ‘tebowing’ has been printed so many times it can now be labeled as an official word for use and print in the english language dictionary?
By the way, you can order a Fathead wall sticker of Tim ‘tebowing.’
Tebow started his first NFL game on December 19 of last year, as a joke some say, by the coach to prove to the fans he wasn’t ready.
He rushed for 78 yards, 40 of which came on a touchdown run in the first quarter of the game. It was the longest touchdown run for a quarterback in Broncos history and the longest touchdown run in NFL history for a quarterback in his first start.
He is a winner. He’s a Christian. He’s an American.
He’s also an incredible young man who we should applaud for his accomplishments on the field, respect for his personal views on faith and strong moral character, not be spitting venomous words at him because of it.
How about we celebrate the fact we have a great talent amongst us who loves to win, and plays football not for paychecks but for passion.
Now excuse me while I pause to begin my ‘tebowing.’
Forgive me Raider Nation, Go BRONCOS!
