Nuclear Iran

iranmania.com

Since the mid 1990s, Russia has been helping to construct a light-water reactor in the Iran port of Busher. But this has become more and more cast against a politically charged background as the west insists Iran is driving for a nuclear weapons programme. Indeed, the country possesses uranium mines, and has built uranium enrichment centrifuges and a heavy water reactor, both of which are roads to uranium or plutonium based weapons programmes. But Russia is keen to build more reactors in Iran despite the political maelstrom, but is unsure how to proceed given Teheran’s on and off cooperation with international bodies.
