Plug In Stereo Interview: Oh, Darling…

THE STAR SCOOP:
Tell us about the EP, “The Patience EP.” What’s the vibe and sound of the EP?

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
Each song is definitely different, they all kind of have a different sound, like…indie, folkish sounding rock, there’s another more sort of pop song, so it’s all kind of different.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What can we expect from the full album?

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
I’m still finishing it up. There’s another 4 songs I have to record. The EP is a lot different than my first album.

I’m really excited for the album. I think that I have more personal songs on the album. They mean a lot more to me, I would say. On the EP there’s a couple songs that mean a lot to me, but there are songs on the album that I’ve been writing for a long time.

THE STAR SCOOP:
The song “Oh Darling” has been a big hit. Why do you think people have taken so well to that song? And what can you tell us about working on the song?

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
It’s so weird to me because I wrote that song so long ago. We put out a long time ago, and there was no crazy action. People were like, oh, I like the song…it’s cool. And then I got signed and they put it out…and then people started listening to it.

I just wrote it about this girl that I liked and I just had a crush on her. I think that people are connecting to it because everyone has felt a crush or everyone has that, oh, I wish they would like me back and maybe we’d be in love and it’d be great, you know what I mean?

THE STAR SCOOP:
Who has influenced your music and helped shape you into the artist you are now?

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
I would say a lot of singer-songwriter stuff, like John Mayer and Jason Mraz and Jack Johnson. But I also love more indie bands. I like Colbie Caillat.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Is there anyone in particular you hope to get to do a duet with or work with in the future?

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
If I could do a duet with somebody, it’d probably be with Taylor Swift. That’d be pretty awesome.

THE STAR SCOOP:
You’ve got some tour dates coming up as well!

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
Yeah, we do! We’re going out on a six week long tour. That will be awesome.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What is Plug In Stereo like, live and up close?

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
The new songs are a lot more fun. It’s cool. We kind of play upbeat songs and a couple older songs, and it’s just kind of a fun thing. We play all different styles throughout the set. It’s really chill for the most part.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What do you want people to take away from coming to see you live or listening to your music?

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
A lot of them, they’re jump around and have fun and just kind of enjoy the dancing. I like it when people enjoy themselves but listen to the lyrics and try to get something from it. I spend a lot of time on lyrics, try to make it mean something. Try to take something bad and try to turn it into something good…maybe change their lives a little bit, you know?

THE STAR SCOOP:
What would you like to say to your fans?

PLUG IN STEREO (a.k.a. Trevor Dahl):
Just please pick up the EP, and follow on Twitter and Facebook. Just keep updated. We’ll be touring and putting out the album pretty soon…thank you so much!
