Karl Stefanovic wins the Gold Logie

He had the backing of Hollywood star Hugh Jackman and now Today show star Karl Stefanovic has beat out his Gold Logie rivals to take home the coveted prize at the TV WEEK Logie Awards.

After travelling more than 18,000 kilometres from London to Melbourne following his stint reporting on Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge Catherine Middleton, the 36-year-old is riding high after claiming victory over Packed To The Rafters stars Rebecca Gibney and Jessica Marais, Spicks And Spicks comedian Adam Hills, The Circle presenter Chrissie Swan and Offspring’s leading lady Asher Keddie for the event’s top prize.

The television presenter, who shot to fame thanks to appearing on-air drunk after the 2009 Logie Awards, also took home the TV WEEK Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter. He beat out Hamish Blake, Shaun Micallef, Swan and Hills for the honour.

While Karl Stefanovic was busy kicking up his heels after their win, some of the nights’ other winners were doing exactly the same!

How can that robot Karl Stefanovic win gold ? Shows what power Channel 9's advertising has. Should have been won by someone with a personality - like Adam Hills. As for Kochie - I don't like people who get their colleagues sacked because they don't laugh at his jokes.
TV Week should be ashamed for the debacle of the Logies event. The voting rigged, champagne served on the Channel 9 table just prior to the announcment, considering no champagne was served in the room? The Logies scraped the bottom of the barrel last night awarding a no talented dill a gold logie - epic fail!
i am just very happy for you karl for your hard work with lisa hosting 9am show. you show us how to be on the same level as human being trying to do the best job daily in whatever job we do. i give a thump up for your win last night. by the way, your wife is beautiful.all the best to the crew of channel nine.
I most agree Christine i love sunrise with mel and Kochie the today show is just plain boring and how the did the circle win over sunrise
I will never watch the logies again or buy t.v week again the show was rigged how the hell did the circle win over sunrise and that swan person winning and as for karl whats his face wins the gold logie got me beat
Could not disagree with you more, Christine! Karl is one of the hardest working presenters-journos on TV and I personally love the Today show (not on here to *** off other presenters so I'll keep my personal opinion about Kochie and Mel to myself!!) and admire Lisa Wilkinson, she's a very accomplished lady. I also watch The Circle and like Chrissie, love Offspring and Asher Keddie and Adam Hills (can't say I've ever watched Packed to the Rafters), but truly feel Karl deserved the Gold. I think it's a great thing that a journo-presenter has won the Gold for being themselves and for their own achievements and that it didn't yet again go to a 'soapie' star who in reality just relies on the writers of their show to make their character popular and likeable. Congrats, Karl.
I'm sorry but I cannot believe that such a boring presenter as Karl Stefonovic can possibly get a Gold Logie. His morning show with Lisa Wilkinson is just PLAIN, plain "boring". I get up each morning with Mel and Kochie on Sunrise on Channel 7 and go off to work each day with a smile on my face. They should maybe take a leaf out of the Channel 7 book.
