The 911 call that has many people convinced that George Zimmerman grumbled the phrase “f**kin’ c**ns” moments before shooting and killing 17 year-old Trayvon Martin could loom large when it comes to determining whether the federal government can prosecute the case. CNN, who often takes guff from critics for their sometimes pointless use of whiz-bang technology, put their state-of-the-art tech to good use on Wednesday night’s AC360, isolating and enhancing the audio from that call. The result is, at the very least, more convincing than the raw audio.

Ann Romney, widely considered to be one of the strongest cards up Mitt Romney‘s campaign sleeve, sat down with Piers Morgan tonight to answer all sorts of questions on the campaign trail, the recent events (good and bad) the Romney campaign has had to deal with. Ann Romney told Morgan the campaign was thrilled to hear of Jeb Bush‘s endorsement today, didn’t think social issues were as important as economic ones, expressed frustration at Etch-a-Sketch mania and admitted she laughed at Robert De Niro‘s allegedly offensive joke.

Like many mornings, Piers Morgan’s day in the news on Tuesday began with a spat. Today, the media plaintiff is Kirk Cameron—the same one who objected to homosexuality as “ultimately destructive to… civilization” on Morgan’s program a while ago. Cameron is blaming Morgan for his own comments, a sort of protest the host has little patience with. Noting that, as a Catholic himself, “it wasn’t a question of me berating him as a Christian because I am a Christian myself,” he concludes Cameron “dug his own grave” and his gripe is “ridiculous.”

A central, longstanding criticism of Mitt Romney has been that he is a flip-flopper, changing his views according to political convenience. Now that Romney’s (once again) running for president, it seems even his campaign can’t avoid pointing it out. On Tuesday’s AC360, CNN’s Anderson Cooper spoke with two witnesses, Mary Cutcher and Selma Mora Lamilla, who were at the scene of the Florida gated community the night Trayvon Martin was shot to death by George Zimmerman. The two described hearing a gun shot and witnessed Zimmerman straddling Martin’s body.

Following the news about Trayvon Martin‘s phone call with his friend moments before he was shot by George Zimmerman, the Martin family’s attorney, Benjamin Crump, held a press conference. Passionately speaking about Martin, Crump concluded that the phone logs and the girlfriend’s testimony completely “connect the dots” and blow “Zimmerman’s absurd self-defense claim out of the water.”

CNN’s Soledad O’Brien spoke with Republican National Committee chief Reince Priebus on Starting Point Tuesday morning and questioned him over Santorum’s recent comments about unemployment, which she characterized as a gaffe, despite Slate’s Dave Weigel claiming the Republican hopeful was taken out of context.

Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown‘s interview with Piers Morgan began on a rebuttal. Morgan’s previous guest, Karen Santorum, had said she tried to laugh at the senator’s birth control joke at her husband’s expense, but she didn’t seem too happy. “I took a whack at everybody,” he explained, before diving into an extended conversation with Morgan that explored his reasons for running for reelection, his experience hanging out with Gene Simmons, and the time his wife greeted him naked in the driveway (really).

Erin Burnett took a whack at the Republican National Committee’s new ad lambasting Democrats for conducting a so-called “war on women”, saying the clip “annoyed her” on Monday night’s OutFront on CNN.

A very young person was killed last month, for carrying a bag of Skittles and an iced tea. His killer made a dubious claim of self-defense, despite being explicitly told by law enforcement he had no right to confront the teen and his Skittles for his “suspicious” behavior. The claim worked, and witnesses say that police officers told them they were mistaken when they tried to say it was the teen who cried out for help, and not the killer. Trayvon Martin‘s death is a harrowing story, particularly given that his killer, George Zimmerman, seems to have escaped any brush with the legal justice system. It should alarm any American than our legal system protected Zimmerman’s liberty after his crime. So why are only black people talking about it?

On Thursday, CNN’s Erin Burnett spoke with David Axelrod, the communications director for President Obama’s re-election campaign, about his recently-canceled plans to appear on controversial host Bill Maher‘s HBO program.

While campaigning for his share of Puerto Rico’s 23 delegates, presidential up-and-comer Rick Santorum deployed an odd strategy: insisting that federal law requires English to be the “main language” in order to achieve statehood. On Thursday morning’s Starting Point, political strategist Hank Sheinkopf called Santorum a “doofus” for making the gaffe, but CNN contributor Will Cain pointed out that the former Pennsylvania Senator’s claim wasn’t completely out of left field.

And last night’s coverage of the GOP primaries was no exception. Stewart had some fun with all three major cable networks for how they chose to cover the primaries, whether it was through sexual innuendo, completely obsessive up-to-the-minute coverage, or just ignoring them for regularly scheduled programming.

Jon Stewart encountered a viral video this weekend through various media outlets of varying gravitas, from YouTube to Rihanna‘s Twitter. Stewart was upset to find that “this guy [Joseph] Kony is probably dropping sick beats” was a wrong prediction on the man, and while he found the viral campaign’s power formidable, took some time to laugh at various newspeople for grumpily spending the week reminding people that they were covering Uganda all along.

The KONY 2012 campaign, intended to make the African warlord Joseph Kony known worldwide, has been faced with some particularly strong criticisms. On CNN last night, one of Kony’s victims came out strongly against the campaign, arguing that the focus of the international community should not be on the man, but his child victims who do not have anyone speaking for them.

Mitt Romney is touring the South this week in anticipation of Tuesday’s primaries in Alabama and Mississippi. He has described it as something of an “away game,” and an interview on the nationally syndicated Rick and Bubba Show this week proved why: in discussing his policy stances, the hosts changed the subject to ask Romney about his Mormon faith, and to answer whether he thought America was the Promised Land, and not Israel.

Piers Morgan‘s guest last night, TV host Montel Williams, isn’t particularly known for his political stances, but on Morgan’s show last night, Williams was brimming with opinions on everything from Rush Limbaugh to Republican calls to war, calling into question anyone not having done military service having “the nerve to send our children to die.”

Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour‘s controversial pardons were upheld by the court on Thursday, and following the decision, Soledad O’Brien spoke to Randy Walker — whose wife was shot by David Gatlin, one of the pardoned convicts, and who was shot in the head himself. Walker said the court’s decision was “politically easy,” and that if he sees Gatlin he would take it as a threat and defend himself.
