CHENNAI, JULY 17. The Tamil Nadu Government on Sunday announced the film
awards, including the best film, actor, actress and technicians for 1998.

According to an official press release, a committee headed by Justice Mr. P. Bhaskar
received 34 entries of which 31 films fulfilled all conditions.

Best Films: Natpukkaga (First prize), Marumalarchi (Second Prize), Unnidathil Ennai
Koduththen (Third prize), Houseful (Special prize) and Kizhakkum Merkkum (Best
portrayal of women).

Best Actor: Sarathkumar (Natpukkaga and Simmaraasi), Best Actress: Roja (Unnidathil
Ennai Koduththen), Special Prize: Karthik (Pooveli and Unnidathil Ennai Koduththen)
and Revathi (Thalaimurai), Villain: Ranjeeth (Marumalarchi), Comedian: Senthil (Jeans).
Child Artist: Master Mahendran (Kumbakonam Gopalu).

Director: R. Parthiban (Houseful), Story Writer: Vikaraman (Unnidathil Ennai
Koduththen), Dialogue Writer: Bharathi (Marumalarchi), Music Director: Babi
(Sollamalae), Lyricist: Arivumathi (Kizhakkum Merkkum), Playback Singer: Malaysia
Vasudevan (En Asai Rasave), and Nitya Sri (Jeans), Cinematographer : M.S.Annadurai
