Double trouble

Film. Jeans (Tamil)
Director: Shankar
Cast: Prashanth (double role), Aishwarya Rai, Nazar (double role), Radhika, Geetha, Lakshmi, Senthil

It is a mixture of spectacular scenery and hilarious comedy and a little bit of confusion with too many dual roles. If the director had concentrated on the story of the film, the audience would have come out of the theatre with a little more satisfaction.

Nachiappan (Nazar), a small-time cook, makes it to the US and runs an eatery there. He has two sons Vishwanathan (Prashanth) and Ramamurty (Prashanth), who are identical twins.

They meet Krishnaveni (Lakshmi) and her grand-daughter Madhumitha (Aishwarya Rai) who come to the US and who need help in a strange land.

Madhumitha and Vishwanathan fall in love but Nachiappan objects to their love affair and insists that his twins should get married to another pair of twins. How Madhumitha and Vishwanathan get united forms the hilarious climax.

Though Prashanth is the hero it is Aishwarya Rai who steals the show with her dancing prowess. But it is a pity to see veteran actress Lakshmi in such a pathetic role and that too in those nauseating costumes. Nazar provides good support and A R Rahman’s music is excellent. But one is still confused over the title of the film.
