Back on track after the aborted release of 2007’s My Way Back Home, east Texas native Womack continues to infuse her wonderfully robust twang with a slightly pop sensibility.
The crossover appeal of 2000’s I Hope You Dance was the best thing that could’ve happened to her; by embracing, rather than shunning, the glossier aspects of neo-traditional country, Womack remains one of Music City’s most underrated talents.
Crazy, her seventh record, is an often gloomy assortment of broken-hearted love songs ideal for consuming on some lonely, overcast fall day.
