Pechalat started skating at age 7 and switched to dance at age 10. Pechalat/Bourzat teamed up in 2000. They moved to Moscow to train under Alexander Zhulin from summer 2008 to May 2011 and then moved to Detroit. Coach Anjelika Krylova is the 1998 Olympic silver medallist (with Oleg Ovsiannikov). The couple also lists their coaches Anjelika Krylova and Pasquale Camerlengo as their choreographers for their Free and Short Dances respecitvely. Pechalat fractured her nose in a practice accident on March 13.
