Zoo des Sables D' Olonne in Vendée department is an oasis of green by the sea.

Shady paths trail through lush vegetation opening on to enclosures containing big cats, monkeys, giraffes and reptiles.

The animals housed at Sables D' Olonne total more than 200 each in a natural environment.

Features are mealtimes for the otters, pandas, penguins, vultures and wolves, just some of the species to be seen here.

Zoo des Sables D' Olonne is heavily involved in species conservation and the protection of the environment both in the park itself and in the countries of origin of threatened species.
