ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations, organized by
The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City
and on view May 10 to August 19, will explore the striking affinities
between Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, Italian designers from
different eras.
Inspired by Miguel Covarrubias's "Impossible Interviews" for Vanity Fair
in the 1930s, the exhibition will feature fictive conversations between
these iconic women to suggest new readings of their most innovative
work.
Approximately 90 designs and 30 accessories by Schiaparelli (1890-1973) from the
late 1920s to the early 1950s, and Prada from the late 1980s to the
present, will be compared and contrasted to explore the extraordinary
impact of their aesthetics and sensibilities on contemporary notions of
fashionability.

FROM THE SPONSOR
Amazon and its fashion sites, Shopbop, Endless, Zappos, and MYHABIT, are excited to support The Costume Institute's Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible
Conversations
exhibition. The company believes strongly in the power of
unconventional thinking and has a special connection to the
exhibition, which explores how Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada
changed fashion over the last 90 years by challenging the accepted
norms.
Many iconic pieces will be on display, along with photos and other
memorabilia illustrating the impact each has had on today's fashion. The
exhibition also uses video to create a virtual dialogue between the two
women and examines their similarities and differences.
As a sponsor, along with Condé Nast, Amazon is thrilled to be part of
something that brings fashion history into the present in such a
three-dimensional way. |
