ISSCC Chosen As Milieu for the IEEE 2012 Pederson, Kirchhoff, and Philips Field Awards
Behzad Razavi, C. Y. Lu, and Ronald A. Rohrer will take the stage at the plenary session of ISSCC, the Society's flagship conference, on February 20 to receive prestigious 2012 IEEE Technical Field Awards:
• Behzad Razavi, an IEEE fellow and professor of Electrical Engineering at UCLA, will accept the 2012 IEEE Donald O. Pederson Award for pioneering contributions to the design of high-speed CMOS communication circuits. Sponsored by the Society since 1987, the Pederson award was renamed in 2005 to memorialize a key founder of SSCS and its highly regarded Journal of Solid-State Circuits.
• Chih-Yuan (C. Y.) Lu, the president of Macronix International Corporation, Ltd. and chairman of Ardentec Corporation in Hsinchu, Taiwan, will be presented with the 2012 IEEE Frederik Philips Award sponsored by Philips Electronics NV for leadership and contributions to research, development, and industrial alliances in semiconductor technology.
• Ronald A. Rohrer will receive the 2012 IEEE Gustav Robert Kirchhoff Award sponsored by the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society for fundamental contributions to circuit simulation, circuit design optimization, and electronic design automation. Dr. Rohrer is the chief executive officer of Alto Technologies, Inc. and university professor emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
