The promise of a new show or movie with Chris Elliott top-lining it is usually a welcome (albeit rare) thing. The comedian, who’s made a career out of playing all manner of oddball characters with questionable sanity and very unique moral compasses could never be accused of giving anything less than 100% to the creeps, freaks, weirdoes, and perverts that have marked his career.

Add U.S. Marshal Chris Monsanto to that list, the cowboy hat and leather vest wearing hero of Adult Swim’s Eagleheart, whose second season premieres tonight. Thanks to a first season that hits the ground running, Monsanto joins that storied list of wonderful freak show characters Elliot has played up until now, with the benefit of a surreal and gory backdrop to add to the fun.

My favorite Tumblr at the moment (having just replaced the no less excellent "Batman Running Away From S**t") is "Ron Sworschach" -- which combines lines of Rorschach's dialogue from "Watchmen" with images of Parks and Recreation's Ron Swanson, and vice-versa.

The mumbling objectivist vigilante and the meat-loving libertarian mesh surprisingly well, leaving me unable to exactly recall who uttered such classic lines as "You had me at meat tornado" and "Good joke. Everybody laugh. Roll on snare drum." Would love to see a Leslie Knope/Silk Spectre or Ben Wyatt/Nite Owl.

Here are a few of my favorites, definitely check this Tumblr out:

The first image from the upcoming Munsters-reboot "Mockingbird Lane" is up at Entertainment Weekly, as well as an in-depth interview with showrunner Bryan Fuller. While the project -- which Fuller refers to in such high-concept descriptions as "an American Harry Potter" and "The Real Housewives Of Transylvania" -- takes its initial  inspiration from the cult 1960s TV sitcom, it's clear from the interview that the show will be going in a somewhat different direction.

For example, there will be more monsters on the show other than the standard Frankenstein, Dracula, and Wolf-boy. Fuller, a big fan of the Universal Monsters, teases that we might go through a whole gamut of fantastical creatures, including possibly a Mummy, Creature From The Black Lagoon, and Invisible Man. There will ironically also be a strong element of realism; Fuller tells EW: "Any story you can tell on Parenthood we can run through a Universal monster prism and tell it in a very twisted off-kilter way." This goes so far as to reimagine Eddie Munster's lycanthropy as a "disability" that his parents have to reconcile. Read More...

Like pepperoni on a Deep Dish Pizza, MTV Geek will be all over this year’s C2E2, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo. The Con – now in its third year at Chi-Town’s McCormick Place – will host thousands of fans eager to meet and greet with some of the best in comics in entertainment, and the whole MTV Geek crew will be there to capture every minute of the excitement.

To give you guys a little background, C2E2 is produced by ReedPop, the company behind the enormous New York Comic-Con, PAX, and even the annual Star Wars Celebration. Though C2E2 started off pretty small in its first year, mostly as an experiment by ReedPop to feed the need for* a legitimate, fan friendly comic convention in the Chicago; in the second year, attendance grew exponentially, and the exhibitor expects that this year will all but sell out. Not too shabby for a three year old. Read More...

Little did we anticipate a Doctor Who-themed Tennant brouhaha when we ran our story earlier today about the actor returning to BBC America for The Spies of Warsaw. This pair of recent TV ads by Tennant for Virgin Media's TiVo service feature the actor cheekily referencing the character he's most known for -- and The Beeb is not happy!

There an obvious reference to a time travel machine in this ad, with Virgin founder Richard Branson going back in time and reappearing in a 70s leisure suit: Read More...

With the seventh colume of American Dad hitting DVD next Tuesday, we've got an exclusive clip from the release for your eyeballs' enjoyment.

As much as we love Matt Smith’s Eleventh Doctor, there’s one major ingredient the last few seasons of Doctor Who have been missing: David Tennant. Well, the wait is over, as BBC America is bringing Tennant back to the tube with a brand new mini-series: ‘The Spies of Warsaw.’

There’s a number of exciting bits to this piece of news, not least of which is that the miniseries is an original co production by BBC America for their Dramaville block of programming… Which means the mini will premiere in the USA first, NOT in the UK like a BBC production would. Looks like the biscuit is on the other foot now, doesn’t it Brits? Read More...

Welcome to our time-traveling, space-warping round up of all the news we could find about the world’s most popular Timelord, Doctor Who. And there’s a ton of news to get through because, remember: this article is bigger on the inside.

ITEM! Doctor Who Nabs Hugo Noms
As we reported earlier this week, Doctor Who dominated the "Best Dramatic Presentation, Short Form" category of the Hugo Awards, snagging three out of the five nominations. The episodes in question were, "The Doctor's Wife," "The Girl Who Waited," and "A Good Man Goes To War," clearly indicating that future Who writers should indicate whether there's a woman or a man in the episode in the title, if they want to get a Hugo Nom. It's the answer to one of geekdom's most persistent and baffling questions. Where is Springfield from The Simpsons located? Now, thanks to Smithsonian magazine, we finally have our answer. According to Simpsons creator Matt Groening, the fictional town is located on Oregon:

"The only reason is that when I was a kid, the TV show “Father Knows Best” took place in the town of Springfield, and I was thrilled because I imagined that it was the town next to Portland, my hometown."

Which means, of course, that Portland is Shelbyville.

With a TV mini-series based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's Good Omens still in development (recently confirmed by Gaiman himself on Twitter), this "book title sequence" made by Ariana T. on Vimeo gives us a tantalizing idea of what we might expect. A motion graphics assignment for school based on her favorite book, Ariana used After Effects and Photoshop to put this visually striking video:

Another night of Game of Thrones and another night of HBO greatly deviating from the story line of the books.  We're not complaining (really, we're not), it's just we started reading the A Song of Ice and Fire books shortly after season one last year and seeing how they're all around a 1,000 pages in length, we wouldn't have wasted our time had we known that reading them wouldn't really give us any insight on the show.

Anywho, here's our recap of episode two, which basically is just a list of all the MAJOR changes to the story that have been made so far. This episode starts off where the last one left off with Arya (Arry) and Gendry on the road with the Night's Watch. While making camp, two members of the Goldcloaks approach looking for Gendry.  Some words are said, some feelings hurt, and all of sudden Yoren has his dagger drawn, ready to get all surgical on some leg arteries.  Since we first met him in season one, Yoren has been just a delight.  A grumpy, bitter, delight.

After a quick brush with the law, Arya spills the beans to Gendry about who she really is (because, ya know, women be talkin'), and then they both stare off into the distance like that one shot in Bad Boys (and Bad Boys II).

That scene was pretty accurate, but the next one isn't.

Sadly, you won't be able to buy Balon Greyjoy's gigantic kraken encrusted fireplace from this week's Game of Thrones, but the HBO Store has your hook-up regardless with some awesome items direct from the stony hills of Pyke...
