Steve Richardson was a blond half-forward and wingman from Mayne in Queensland. His only senior game for Essendon was as interchange in a Round 20 win over Melbourne in 1983, in which he kicked his two goals.

He was a determined player but he couldn't cement a place in the senior side. He was a member of the Reserves premiership side in 1983.

Richardson was cleared to Swan Districts in Western Australia in 1984.

His twin brother, Michael, also played for Essendon.
