 GM Levan Pantsulaia was born on 26 February, 1986, in Tbilisi.

He is an International Grandmaster since 2004. Levan is the World Champion of 2002, under 16 and nowadays champion of Georgia.

He is the winner of 9th Dubai open, Cup of Maia Chiburdanidze 2007 and other International tournaments.

 


 GM Zhou Jianchao was born on 6 November, 1988, in Shanghai.

He learnt to play chess at the age of 6. Zhou is the runner-up of National Individual Tournament and co-runner-up of World Team Championship in 2005.

Also he is a co-champion of Asian Team Championship and Board Gold in 2008.

 


GM Zhigalko Sergei was born on March 28, 1989 in Minsk.

 

He is an International Grandmaster with a rating of 2583. Sergei became World and European Champion under 14 in 2003.

Also he is the World Champion under 18 of the year 2006.

 


 GM Arman Pashikian was born on July 28, 1987.

Arman was the winner of Armenian Youth Championship in 1997, 1998. At the same tournament Arman earned a silver medal in 1999 (under-12) and in 2001 (under-14). At the age of 12 he took the fourth place in the European Championship. In 2003 he shared the first two places in the Armenian Championship. In 2005 he became gold medalist at the European Youth Rapid Chess Championship. In 2006 he took the second place at the Armenian Premier League final. He is also the winner of “Gyumri 2008”. This is the second time that Pashikian participates in this tournament.


 GM Amin Bassem Matta was born in 1988, Egypt.

 Besides that Bassem is going to be a doctor, he has many titles in chess. He is an Arab champion under-10, under-12 and under-14 (two times). He became African champion under-20 in 2004 and 2005. In 2005 and 2006 Amin became Arab champion under-20, as well as Arab Men Champion.  He took bronze medal at the World Championship under-18, in 2006.  In 2007 Amin Bassem became the champion of Abu-Dhabi Masters and Under-20 Arab Championship.

 


 GM Georg Meier was born on 26 August, 1987, in Trier, Germany.

He showed interest in chess when he was about 4 years.
In 2007 he made his final GM-Norm during the European Championship in Dresden. He played very well in the U20 World Champioships in Yerevan only to lose in the decisive last round and finish 5th. This year Georg will play at the Olympiad in Dresden as a member of Germany B Team.

His idols in Chess are the players who can feel the harmony of the pieces very well, like for example Wassiliy Smyslov,Anatoli Karpov and nowadays Vladimir Kramnik.


 GM Avetik Grigoryan was born in 1989 in Yerevan, Armenia.

He is an International Grandmaster with a rating of 2537. Avetik is the three time champion of Armenia in different age groups (2004, 2006, 2007). In 2006 he earned gold and bronze medals accordingly at the Yerevan Rapid Chess Cup and the European Rapid Chess Championship. In 2007 Avetik took the forth place at the World Youth Chess Championship, under-18. In 2008 he took second place at Belgorod and Fajr Open tournaments.


 GM Zaven Andriasian was born in 1989 in Yerevan, Armenia.

In 2005 Zaven shared I-II places in “Aeroflot Open" International Tournament. In the same year he became Champion of Europe under 16. The year of  2006 was full of success for Zaven. He became World Champion, under 20; vice-champion of Europe, under 18 and champion of Jermuk International Open Chess Tournament, under-18.


IM Hrant Melkumyan was born on April 30, 1989.

In 1998 and 1999 Hrant took second place in the Armenian Youth Championship, under-10.
In 2003 he became the winner in the same tournament, under-14. At the International Tournament Aeroflot Open 2005 Hrant took 10th place.
The year of 2006 was noticeable for Hrant as he became the vice-champion of the World Championship, under-18 and at International Chess Tournament “Jermuk-2006”.
In the 2007 edition of the latter tournament, he became champion and received the invitation to take part in the Lake Sevan 2007 invitational.


 FM Samvel Ter-Sahakyan was born in 1993, Vanadzor.

He is the champion of Armenia, under 10 (2002, 2003), champion of Europe, under 10 (2003).
When he was 12, he became the champion of Armenia and vice-champion of Europe.
Also bronze medalist of the World Chess Championship he became under 12.
In 2007 he won “Jermuk-2007” under-14 international open chess tournament and 1st league of Armenian Men Championship. Samvel got FIDE Master title when he was 10 and soon he will get Grandmaster title as he has already fulfilled the norms of Grandmaster.
