Demi Lovato Fans Upset Over Last Episode Of So Random (@ddlovato, @theRealTiffany, @DisneyChanPhoto)

Hey guys,

We have been hearing rumblings all day about the last episode of So Random where there was a sketch that seemed to make fun of people with eating disorders. As you guys know Demi Lovato has suffered and is still struggling with such a disorder. The fans are upset that Disney would allow this knowing the situation a former star of the show is going through. They feel at the very least it is in bad taste for Disney Channel to glamorize eating disorders or make fun of them in any way.

Here is one statement we received on Twitter about this:

I’m surprised Disney has allowed this on TV and now that Demi has come out saying she has a eating disorder… This is just REALLY a disgrace to Disney Channel. I would be ASHAMED at that if I was one of the actors.

If I was a parent I would not allow my children to watch this show. Basically what they are saying is “Get too fat, you won’t be famous.” For a young singer/actor that would not help. I am GLAD I do not watch this show and I want Disney to never show this episode again.

I hope Demi does not see this and children do not believe that.

We are put on earth to be happy, no matter the size. Once there was a time when a bigger woman was more wanted by a man. Now, we all have to be skinny and have big breasts. No woman is VERY skinny, perfect hips, big breasts, big ass and eats normally and is truly happy.

I think it’s about time men, women and Hollywood change their minds on how women should look.

Below is the episode in question. FF to 6:21 for the skit that upset a lot of people.

So what do you guys think about this situation. Do you think Disney Channel needs to issue a formal apology to the fans?

Fans need to take a chill pill. I’m sure they didn’t mean to offend fans or Demi Lovato. It was a while before she came out to the public saying she had these issues and that she had an eating disorder. So Random started filming before that time period. Disney would never glamorize it. They were just probably emphasizing these stereotypes and how it’s wrong. All shows emphasize one thing or another! Besides, there are SNL writers on the show as well. Fans are just going crazy just because she has an relation to the show. Does that mean it’s directed to her? Of course not! Sure, it could’ve been cut out or whatever. But the point is that they aren’t trying in any way to ENCOURAGE IT. the character obviously is the opposite from everyone sane in this world. Fans shouldn’t be too hard on the topic. What’s even worse is that they are blaming the ACTORS. It’s their job to perform these sketches. Why do you have to blame them?

I’m more offended by how stupid this skit is. I don’t blame the actors or actresses. But I can see how this would be offensive. Frankly its just a dumb skit. Painfully stupid and just lame.

Wow this is horrible. Demi actually came out and said that she had a eating disorder and this is pretty much Disney’s way of saying, “hey let’s make Demi feel like a loser!” Disney also needs to remember that their audience can go down to 6 years old. I’m sooo glad I watch nickelodeon and not Disney

It was pretty tame. I don’t know what all the fuss is about.

please just STFU. Dont nobody give a damn about that bitch eating disorder. That show is for entertainment only, not for you to get offended. I hate it when ppl get there panties in the bunch over small issues like that. As many ppl always saying when something so small recieves attention “theres a war going on and your worried about this??!!??” That goes for this issue as well. Calm the F**k down, and realize that this is just a tv show. #TeamSoRandom!!

fuck you SO RANDOM ! #sonnywithachance

The issue isn’t even about Demi, it’s the fact that they are saying that in order to look good he only eats once a week. Kids watch this show and they see this and think that’s what it takes to be beautiful, which isn’t true. And there was also something on shake it up where they mentioned not eating to look good. These are kids’ shows and are sending really bad messages.

I can see how this is offensive, but can’t they just cut that line out? I’d expect someone to complain more about mocking Australians. And, y’know, every other country they make fun of. I don’t think they were saying, hey! Let’s make fun of eating disorders! I think they thought no one would actually ever wanna BE like that kid, cause his agent forces him to starve himself. Maybe they were just making fun of agents instead? I know that sounds stupid, but they should just cut those lines out and move on. Oh, and they should probably apologize and try to be more careful with mocking people’s accents too. That’s really the problem I have with this show. There’s ONE anorexic joke. And about a million ethnic jokes. I’m not saying pull them all out, just try to make less of them before you offend somebody. Like all those people in the comments up there saying ‘Calm the f**k down!’. Yay. Way to totally not sound like a vicious asshole…
