Chinese Smart comes back to Europe

Martin Motors company once again presented Chinese Shuanghuan Bubble model with its own badge at the 2010 Bologna Auto Show. The car arouses controversy at the beginning, because its design resembles of Smart ForTwo to much. After more then three years of battle, Daimler and Martin Motors has achieved an agreement in April, which allowed on the legal sale of mini car in whole Europe. The sale has been implementing in Greece so far, where the local court has rejected accusations of Daimler.

Lifan 520 - the first car's test

The sale of Chinese Brand Lifan with European logo Martin Motors has already started in Czech Republic. The offer covers only one model 520, being available in two bodies versions - hatchback and sedan. What is interesting, Lifan - is connected mainly with motorcycle - started cars’ production nearly 5 years ago, and 520 is its first project. Czech journalists from service auto.idnes.cz were the first to have possibility to check this exotic vehicle.

Lifan will enter Europe through the Czech Republic

Martin Motors, Italian company which is responsible for importing Lifan brand to Europe, shows several models at the Autoshow Praha 2009. The company has signed an agreement with local LUM-ORIS and will start sale of Lifan brand in Czech Republic in the next few days. Shuanghuan CEO and two commercial vehicles produced by Changhe - Freedom i Coolcar - will probably join the offer in near future. At the Autoshow Praha 2009 visitors can also see Dongfeng brand represented by GAZ Auto Praha.

Legal copy of Smart in Europe this year

The Chinese copy of Smart will be offered on European markets in the second half of the year - according a prestigious service Automotive News Europe. Unofficial sources say, that lawyers of Mercedes and Italian company’s Martin Motors, are closer to an amicable solution of distribution controversial model. The price of basic version with 1.1L (68hp) engine will be 10,500 EUR in West Europe.

Shuanghuan CEO legally in Italy

The German court cut the sale of Chinese made Shuanghuan CEO off in July. According to BMW representatives, the car is too similar to off road X5 model. In the meantime, BMW has lost a court action in Italy that claimed a Chinese-built SUV infringed the German automaker's copyright. The Italian Martin Motors company is responsible for the car’s import.

Italy: Martin Motors to import Lifan

Martin Motors company, being responsible for distributing Chinese Brand Shuanghuan in Italy, is going to launch in March the next Asian brand – Lifan. The company has been operating on the local market since 1992 and is now the biggest privately-owned motorcycles producer in China. The first car – Lifan 520 – was introduced just in 2006.

Martin Motors: Chinese Smarts in Poland as well

The Italian company announced in Pekin, that in the end of the year it will start sale of Shuanghuan Bubble (Noble before). Importer is going to present the car at the Paris motor show in October, after which the sale in Italy will start. According to announcements, the next markets will be: Germany, Spain, Romania and Poland.

Chinese cars over twice more expensive

Shuanghuan Bubble (Noble) equipped with 1.1L (68hp) petrol engine costs in China 46,000 yuan – around 4,300 EUR. To compare – the car with this engine will be possible to buy in Romania for minimum 10,000 EUR, which means price’s rise by 132%. Chinese company has alreay announced marketing the version with automatic transmission, availabe for 56,000 yuan (around 5,240 EUR). Italian company Martin Motors has not unveiled its prices plans yet.

Martin Motors i niecodzienna premiera w Bolonii

Włoski sąd zakazał prezentacji Bubble’a w Bolonii, aż do czasu finałowego rozstrzygnięcia oskarżenia Daimlera o bezprawne wykorzystanie praw autorskich przez chińską firmę Shuanghuan. Europejski dystrybutor - spółka Martin Motors - zapowiedziała wniesienie apelacji, ale nie została jeszcze rozpatrzona. Pomimo zalecenia sądu, importer pokazał samochód obok targów na przyległym parkingu, podczas gdy wykupione stanowisko pozostało wolne.

Daimler wstrzymał premierę chińskiego Smarta

Niemiecki koncern wstrzymał premierę modelu Shuanghuan Bubble, która miała się odbyć 5 grudnia na salonie w Bolonii. Daimler wygrał proces we włoskim sądzie, a ten nakazał tymczasowe wstrzymanie prezentacji, aż do czasu finałowego rozstrzygnięcia oskarżenia o bezprawne wykorzystanie praw autorskich przez chińskiego producenta. Europejski dystrybutor - spółka Martin Motors - zapowiedziała wniesienie apelacji. Warto podkreślić, że podobny zakaz wydał wcześniej niemiecki sąd, co wpłynęło na zablokowanie prezentacji we Frankfurcie.
