We welcome applicants from anywhere in the world. The summer school is primarily aimed at graduate students (PhD).

Letters of application should include the following information:
  • Name,
  • Organisation,
  • Supervisor,
  • Abstract of research work - limit: 1 page

Important dates

Applications are welcome as long places on the summer school are available. Applicants who send their application after June 4th OR register after June 25th will be required to pay an additional 50.

  • 4 June 2010 - Notification of participation, opening of registration
  • 25 June 2010 - Registration deadline
  • 29 July 2010 - Accommodation deadline
  • 16 August 2010 - A4 poster deadline

Student poster sessions

All participants are required to bring a poster to the summer school.
All posters will take part in a poster competition.
Each participant should send us an A4 version of the poster no later than 16th August 2010, two weeks before the start of the summer school, so that we can produce a booklet for distribution to all participants.

Registration fee

The registration fee of 350* includes:
  • Courses and course material
  • Lunch and coffee breaks
  • Social events
  • Administration, information and on-site help
  • Internet access for laptops
*late registrations/applications are required to pay additional 50.

Fee waivers

ccct Banner

The Center for Creation, Content and Technology, CCCT, offers fee waivers for a number of students based in the Netherlands. The waiver covers the registration fee for the summer school. Students who would like to make use of these should request this in their letter of application.
Applications will be evaluated and ranked by a selection committee in terms of motivation and background of the PhD student.

PetaMedia travel grants

petamedia Banner

The PetaMedia network of excellence is able to offer a small number of travel grants to PhD students. Students who wish to apply for this grant should send an explanation of why they need the grant and why the summer school is important to their career. This should be part of the letter of application.
Applications will be evaluated and ranked by Petamedia in terms of motivation and background of the PhD student.


When candidates receive the confirmation of their participation they will receive a link to complete registration and transfer the payment.
