Update : IE7Pro and Internet Explorer 8 - What is happening?

Hello Users,

Update -

IE7Pro 2.3 works with Internet Explorer 8 beta 2, albeit with some incompatibilities and conflicts. Yes we know that many times the IE7Pro status menu vanishes and only IE7Pro Website and Preferences options are displayed. Also, the IE7Pro's customized menu does not work with the IE8's menu which has the Accelerators. But don't lose hope.

Currently, the Developers are busy on another project related to IE7Pro wink . As soon as the work is done, you will hear about the next version of IE7Pro and Internet Explorer 8 compatibilities resolutions.

As for the name, yes there will be a name change. As most of you would have guessed it by checking the installation directory of the new builds of IE7Pro, the new name will be IEPro. But the name change will not take place in the next release as of now.

As always, we are all eager to hear from the users, so please feel free to post your opinions smile

Re: Update : IE7Pro and Internet Explorer 8 - What is happening?

I think the IE7pro developers should wait...

the current IE7Pro works fine with IE8.0, I notice no big problems yet.

But if I read the feature requests in the newsgroups, maybe some great features from IE7Pro are implement in IE8.0.

I believe IE7Pro should be renamed to something that is not tied to Internet Explorer's version number. I suggest "Internet Explorer Desktop Experience". It can be called IE-DE for short.

That sounds too German to me.

How about IEAddon?

thats great, the name to IEPro would be more universal for everyone, no mix-up when you have IE7 or IE8 just one download and you won't know the diffrence big_smile

Now, IEPro is more likable.

But, personally, I prefer such a product to have a "powerful" name too.

Re: Update : IE7Pro and Internet Explorer 8 - What is happening?

I'm using IE7Pro on Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1. I had installed IE8 at the morning today.

As you tell us, I can use IE7Pro on IE8 with only some functions. E.g., "Session restoring" function doesn't work. I already saw that IE8 doesn't have a session restoring function on itself. That function of IE7Pro cannot work at this browser. If I close the windows when there are multiple tabs, all tabs I want to continue to visit are lost.

Actually, if it was possible to talk about different things, e.g. the problems of IE8 Beta 1, I would tell my opinions about IE8 Beta 1 after analysing it, with its good sides and its problematic sides...smile

Do the ad blocker, download manager, and drag and drop features work with the current beta of IE8?

The first two work a they always have.  However, drag and drop appears not to work in the normal IE8 mode.  However, if you go into the IE7 emulation mode it works just fine.

Re: Update : IE7Pro and Internet Explorer 8 - What is happening?

After an update to IE8.0 Beta 2 I can't access the menu with the statusbar icon and the options for IE7Pro contains only "SettingsModules" and "Extras".

EDIT: Okay, found it, after I removed the "IE7pro preferences" entry from the toolbar at the top, it works now.
EDIT 2: No, that's not the solution... neutral

They need to make I.E Pro more compadible with Internet explorer 8 Beta 2, It works for the most part but also Not always but most of the time the easy page home page doesnt show up with the sites i already have programed,Itll just show empty windows and also sometimes when i go to preference... The only options that will only appear is "Modules and Other", No base settings,Plug-ins,etc.

Please work on this soon cause i love my I.E Pro

Re: Update : IE7Pro and Internet Explorer 8 - What is happening?

I also has the same problem as CHItownDEVIL69 did. The current version of IE7Pro works largely fine, at least the features that I use such as flash/ad-blocking and mouse gestures but sometimes when I make a new tab that created a new process, the IE7 plugin is not loaded with that new process. When this happens, what you can see from the context menu when I clicked on the IE7Pro icon in the offending tab are only 'IE&Pro website' and 'Preferences'. None of the usual 'Online Services', 'Enable Ad Blocker' etc. Clicking 'Preferences' in that state will show up the option page that is devoid of all options with only 'Modules' and 'Other' left.

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with 5GB, alongside IE8 beta 2. The first beta do not have this problem. To replicate the bug, just spawn new tabs until this bug kicks in. You will know it when ad-blocking started to become ineffective and mouse gestures do not work.

Unfortunately I am on the wrong side of Winter but its not IE7Pro's fault.

I'm happy that work is progressing with IEPro though.

Everyone seems to be wanting to name the new addon for IE8.   Just call it:  IE7Pro Plus    smile  It will be a similar name and easier for anyone that has heard of IE7Pro to locate the new version on the web.

IE7Pro Plus will crease doubts as to wheter it supports IE8 also.
And since it supports various versions of IE, it is best to keep any number out of the name.
