The basics

Background: His father was in international development. His mother was an assistant to anthropologist Margaret Mead. Langstaff, 57, was drawn to history in college. He ended up in commercial space research, working with people who created history in the Apollo and Gemini space programs. Now the former Veridian Corp. CEO is about a year into his job leading security contractor TASC.

Education: Bachelor’s in history, Harvard College; master’s in business administration, Harvard University
