Blame it on congressional redistricting. The once-a-decade change in district lines to reflect population shifts has put the careers of House veterans and freshman alike in deep danger. Partisan gerrymandering by Republicans hurt Democrats in North Carolina, Ohio and Georgia. And Illinois Republicans are feeling the pain in a deep blue state.

Increased deportations reduce Obama’s popularity with Latinos, but he still trounces Romney, Perry in match-up

The Hispanic community is increasingly dissatisfied with President Obama’s immigration enforcement policies, a new Pew Hispanic Research Institute survey found. But that unhappiness was not enough for the traditionally Democratic voters to defect to the Republican Party.

In a hypothetical match-up between Obama and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Obama trounces the former Massachusetts governor 68 percent to 23 percent. He routs Texas Gov. Rick Perry, 69 percent to 23 percent.
