Texas universities support Cornyn bill for high-tech immigrant visas
Sen. John Cornyn said he filed the STAR Act to bolster U.S. economic competitiveness. The bill would allocate up to 55,000 immigrant visas to foreign students who graduate from U.S. universities and have job offers in related fields.

Border Patrol officials have expanded the “zero tolerance” zone to cover all 210 miles of the Del Rio Sector and other stretches of the border in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona. Yet, the so-called Streamline strategy has become a political flash point in the border security debate, with some immigration hawks lobbying to expand it along the entire length of U.S.-Mexico border.

Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., author of the de-funding provision. “They also know that a frontal assault on the Second Amendment would be political suicide, so instead they’ve sought to undermine gun rights more subtly.”

The Obama administration’s “third way’’ strategy seeks a middle ground between drug legalization and an enforcement-heavy “war on drugs,’’ drug czar Gil Kerlikowske said in a speech at the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank founded by John Podesta, former White House chief of staff to President Bill Clinton.

The Supreme Court heard the oral argument on Wednesday of the most recent immigration case that continues to politically polarize the nation on the issue of immigration: Arizona v. United States.
Arizona passed a series of laws in the form of SB 1070, which enables officials to verify the legal status of anyone who has been stopped for committing a crime or “reasonable suspicion.”

The first ladies attended an international conference coming just one week after 100 unaccompanied undocumented immigrants were taken to a Lackland AFB dormitory in San Antonio because shelters and facilities operated by non-profit and religious organizations were out of space.

Lawyer for Zeta to seek suppression of confession in killing of ICE agent Jaime Zapata
A lawyer for a Mexican drug cartel member accused of killing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent Jaime Zapata said Wednesday he would file motions to suppress statements his client made after his arrest.
“I need to find out what happened when he was in the custody of the Mexican authorities,” said Ron Earnest, a Washington-area lawyer appointed to represent Zapata Espinoza.
