Texas lawmakers, immigration lawyers discuss impact of broken immigration system
Immigration lawyers from Texas and other states took their case to Capitol Hill on Thursday as they met with lawmakers and their staff to try to demystify certain assumptions on the country’s immigration system. The lawyers also lobbied for changes in immigration law that they say could positively affect the nation’s economy.

After President Obama rejected the Keystone XL pipeline last month, the conservative Canadian government has begun looking for another potential buyer for the oil that was intended for the pipeline. That buyer is China, the energy-craving economic giant that’s already invested more than $16 billion dollars in the Canadian oil industry in the last two years.

Houston Rep. John Culberson praised a settlement finalized Wednesday in a case involving accusations of religious censorship at Houston National Cemetery.
Veterans and volunteer groups had accused cemetery officials and the Department of Veterans Affairs of banning them from using religious terms such as “God” and “Jesus” during services there.
