About Team 70
Driven by the idea of building a successful race team that would stick to its roots and operate out of Warsaw, Indiana, Mary Louise Miller founded ML Motorsports in 1998.
During the first seven years of the team's existence, ML Motorsports competed in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, an ultra diverse series known to be a proving ground for NASCAR's top three divisions - the Sprint Cup Series, the Nationwide Series (formerly the Busch Series) and the Camping World Truck Series.
With the endless commitment and support from Miller, along with the hard work and dedication from its team members - both full time and volunteer - ML Motorsports quickly became a contender in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. In five full seasons in the series, the team finished in the top 10 in points each year.
Among special awards received by the team was the 2000 Rookie of the Year honor for driver Brian Ross. The very next year, with Jason Jarrett behind the wheel, the team earned another Rookie of the Year billing. Jarrett finished second in points as a rookie and won the inaugural race at Kansas Speedway, and then set the track record at Michigan International Speedway a week later in qualifying on the pole. In 2005, Chad Blount steered the car in 12 races, winning four times. The team then opted for the NASCAR Busch Series, which in 2008 will be referred to as the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
In 2006, ML Motorsports competed in seven Nationwide Series races with Justin Diercks. The 2007 season saw seven more starts for Diercks in the Nationwide Series, and then 10 starts for veteran driver Mark Green. In 2008, Green drove the #70 Foretravel Chevrolet with an average start of 25th and an average finish of 22nd. The team's best finish was fifth at Talladega Superspeedway. Shelby Howard joined the team in March of 2009 and competed in 17 races posting five top 15 finishes and 6 top 20 finishes. The team finished the 2010 season locked in the top 30 in owner points which guaranteed a starting spot in the first five races of 2011.
With the addition of drivers David Stremme and Scott Wimmer in April 2011, the team has posted 13 top 20 finishes, nine of which were top 15 finishes, and one top 10 finish. Mary Louise and the team ended the season 23rd in Owner Points and look forward to the 2012 season with great excitement with driver Johanna Long.
