Wondering about a player, a past game or another issue involving the Bears? Senior writer Larry Mayer answers a variety of email questions from fans on ChicagoBears.com.
I know the schedule was only just released, but do you know if and when the Bears will wear their orange uniforms this season?
It is my understanding that the Bears will not wear orange jerseys this season and instead will don their 1940s “Monsters of the Midway” throwbacks—navy jerseys with orange numbers—that they wore as their third alternate jersey in 2010. They likely will wear those throwback jerseys in two games this season, but that decision has yet to be determined. Personally, I’m a big fan of the 1940s look and don't really like the orange jerseys.
I heard that the Bears cannot be flexed to Sunday night games this season. Is that true?
Green Bay, Wisconsin
No, it’s not true. Any one of the Bears’ final six regular season games can be flexed from Sunday afternoon to Sunday night. NFL teams are permitted to play a maximum of six prime-time games per season and the Bears are already scheduled to play five, so only one of the aforementioned six contests could be moved to Sunday night.
If the Vikings eventually end up in Los Angeles, how would that affect the make-up of the divisions? Do you think they would be moved to the AFC West and have a team such as Kansas City move to the NFC North?
San Diego, California
I think the most logical thing to do would be to swap the Vikings and Rams, putting a new Los Angeles team in the NFC West with Arizona, San Francisco and Seattle and placing St. Louis with Chicago, Detroit and Green Bay.
