An Act of Courage—And Mercy
Posted by Rebecca Teti in Faith on Friday, May 25, 2012
Did you catch “the Crescat’s” sad and beautiful story of her post-abortion experience?
You owe it to yourself to read it.
I’m sure the post must be of God, since it accomplishes a minor miracle: the comments make one proud, rather than ashamed, to be a Christian!
Read through them and let anyone fearing to confess sin see the love and mercy that awaits not only from Christ himself, but from his Church. That’s what Christians are really like—in spite of what you may see in the com-boxes when we are debating in the abstract.
Thank you, Katrina Fernandez, for your bold confession.
And for this follow-up post filled with resources for women who have experienced the trauma of abortion.
October Baby

Maybe you made a trip to the theater last weekend to watch a certain movie that has been generating a lot of buzz. Maybe the lead actress drew you in with her beauty and the story line kept you gripping your seat until the very end. Maybe you shed a tear and rooted against the bad guys. Maybe you can’t wait to see the film again, and are telling all of your friends that if they only go see one movie... READ MORE
Race for the Cure Drops Planned Parenthood—Updated
Posted by Rebecca Teti in News on Tuesday, January 31, 2012
Note: see bottom of this post for an update
The Susan G. Komen foundation is cutting ties with Planned Parenthood—at least for now.
The severance has not been announced publicly, and officially at least is not a repudiation of Planned Parenthood.
Komen spokeswoman Leslie Aun said the cutoff results from the charity’s newly adopted criteria barring grants to organizations that are under investigation... READ MORE
Taking Back Pink

My Halloween “treat” to myself this year was a trip to my local women’s imaging center for my annual mammogram. I managed to fit it into the month of October, but just barely, and am happy to report that I received a clean bill of health. I don’t know if having had so many treatments and mammos over the past years has dulled my senses, but it even seemed less uncomfortable than past screenings.
But... READ MORE
Pro-Life PSAs
Posted by Rebecca Teti in News on Friday, April 08, 2011
These two quick PSAs running in Chile might put a smile on your face.
The ads are cute but what catches my attention is the slogan: “Chile grows with you.” Not so long ago any Western nation would have shared the assumption that each new life represented growth and continuation for its people and culture; now it seems so radical!
With a polite nod to Jill Stanek.
Pregnant and Unhappy?
Posted by Lisa Hendey in Health on Tuesday, October 19, 2010
This week, I received an email that tore at my heart. The writer is a young woman who possibly received a bit of bad NFP instruction and now finds herself pregnant, afraid, and emotionally unprepared. I’m so glad that she wrote me to reach out for support and encouragement. In my reply to her, I shared with her my memories of the day I learned I was pregnant with Eric. Greg was so excited, and... Amnesty Begins In The Womb
Posted by Rebecca Teti in News on Friday, October 08, 2010
Amnesty International is demanding the decriminalization of abortion throughout Latin America in the name of human rights.
Their statement singles out Cuba (Cuba!) for praise, because it legalized abortion decades ago. Later we are informed:
Governments must meet their international obligations to protect human rights and give priority to sexual and reproductive health programmes, including sex education... READ MORE
Nobel, But Not Noble
Posted by Rebecca Teti in News on Monday, October 04, 2010
With the word that Robert G. Edwards has won the Nobel prize for medicine comes one of those odd moments when Catholics know we are in the world but not of it.
It is a stunning scientific achievement, and I’m sure he and his team are proud of helping more than 4 million children to be born, and feel good about what they see as humanitarian aid to infertile couples.
But the Prize Committee doesn’t comment on the number of “selective reductions” or embryos frozen and then decayed or frozen still it took to achieve that result.
I can’t help wonder how the world will think about this prize when we have some critical distance from it.

In his new video series, the always amazing and inspiring Fr. Frank Pavone challenges us to be truly involved in the Right to Life cause by actively praying for life.
