Inward Revolution Creates Outward Revolution
In meditation
try letting go
of every thought
that arises.
Do not try and push
the thoughts away.
Rather, stop grabbing
hold of them.
Or if you already
have grabbed hold of the thought,
stop holding on to it.
Let it go on its own
and in this way
you…

The path
to spiritual awakening
really does not have to be
complicated.
You simply
with an open mind
find the practices
that you experience
a greater awakening
into bliss
and you practice them.
You should try everything;
from breathing exercises,
to mantra, to chanting
to various methods of meditation
and everything in between.
And when you find practices
that help awaken
the bliss…

The new age/self help
industry is often about
building yourself up.
Making yourself
more special
more successful,
more liked,
more confident.
And there is nothing
wrong with this.
But enlightenment
is the opposite.
Enlightenment is about
allowing the facade
to fall apart.
When you allow the idea
of who you think you are
to crumble,
then all that is left
is…

"Everything is energy.
Your thoughts are energy,
your feelings are energy,
your reactions are energy.
Every happening
is a movement of energy,
it is the play of Shakti.
So every time you try
and resist something
that is arising,
you are resisting Shakti.
You are repressing
the natural flow of bliss.
Trying to disassociate yourself
with your experience
is just another form or resistance.
To try and not…

"When we were born
we were sensitive to everything.
But as we began to feel things
like hurt, sadness, rejection,
we began to block that sensitivity.
We began to contract
and separate ourselves
from our experience.
Every experience of resisting pain
gets wound up tight in knots
and this becomes our identity.
We begin to experience
ourselves as this hard outer shell
that nothing can penetrate.
Our own…

"One way to look at meditation
is that you are letting go
of your separation with this moment.
You are letting go of the notion
that there is a you that is separate
from this moment.
And this is not a path of negation
where you deny yourself,
but rather it is acceptance.
Whatever you accept,
you move beyond.
Whatever you resist or desire
holds your focus.
Your attention remains
locked on that.
So if you are…

In meditation,
at first you see being lost
in your thinking as a habit.
But as you focus your mind
through meditation techniques
and other spiritual practices,
you come to realize
that in meditation,
you get lost in your…

When your heart awakens
no teaching makes sense.
The idea of teachings
and practice
does not make sense.
Something happened,
you are in love
and just loving
completes you.
There cannot be
a greater…

Non-doing
is at your essence.
It is not something
you can really practice
because how can you
do non-doing?
Everyone is addicted
to their thinking.
Thinking is always going.
So just like you tell a smoker
to sit somewhere and do nothing,
he will sit there and smoke,
if you sit and practice 'non-doing'…

"You do not need
to get yourself into
a certain state
or attain something.
You can simply
just be aware of yourself.
You can turn your attention
back upon yourself
and watch your own functioning.
Be aware of your experience,
be aware of the thoughts.
Just by allowing yourself
to be as you are
and watching what is here,
you begin to see the mechanics
of the mind.
You begin to see…

"The mind is always scheming.
Looking for ways to make you happy;
ways to make you feel good.
How you can avoid feeling
the things you don't want to feel
and how you can feel more
what you would like to feel.
There is nothing wrong with this,
it is the nature of the mind.
But it is also how stress is created.
Because there is what is here
in this moment
and there is how you would like
'here' to be.
If you really…

"The mind
is a non-stop chatterbox.
Always talking talking talking.
Commenting, judging, defining,
describing, knowing.
It is very important
to become aware of
the constant noise of the mind.
If you are involved with it,
then you cannot be aware of it.
If you are the one that knows,
that defines, that describes, that judges,
then you cannot be aware of it.
There has to be the willingness
to…

If you really live
deeply in spiritual practice
then this moment is intense.
Moment to moment,
life is shaking you
out of what you know;
shaking you out of everything
that is comfortable.
So much so that
all you can do is surrender
to this moment.
All you can do
is allow everything
to be as it…

It's amazing how many spiritually minded people I've met over the years who have experienced what I would call 'complicated' lives.
I do wonder sometimes if people become more spiritually aware because they have had to overcome difficulties in their lives, or, were they born 'knowing' that they had chosen to walk a problematic path through life because their soul was already spiritually…

Here I will relate my first satori (temporary experience of enlightenment) that really put me on the path to enlightenment:
I was in college in Vermont, having a bad day. After classes and meetings with teachers, I went back to my dorm room and sat down to meditate. When I sat down, I just surrendered. Not that I knew what surrender was but looking back on it, that was what I did. I didn't practice…

You cannot enter
witness consciousness
if you are still holding on
to judgments.
It is not possible.
Because judgments
separate you from
everything else.
But I am not saying
"don't have judgments"
but rather, in meditation,
turn your attention
back on to yourself
and accept what is there.
Accept whatever thoughts are there,
whatever feelings are there,
whatever sensations are there.…

If you want to be free of anxiety
then notice and feel this:
life is happening in this moment.
You are not doing this moment,
you are not making
this moment happen.
It is here on its own.
If you really notice your experience
in this moment,
existence is happening.
And if you disagree,
if you think
you are creating yourself
to exist in this moment,
then stop existing.
Go on.
In trying…

One of the most amazing
realizations you can have
is to realize you are actively
avoiding this moment.
That at the very core of your ego
is that constant reflex
to separate oneself from this moment,
to constantly seek some sort
of mental distraction
that takes you out of feeling
this moment directly.
This repulsion is not happening at
an intellectual level.
It is happening unconsciously.
The ego…

Anything a person says about the true intentions of Jesus are pure speculation. He never wrote anything down. NONE of us have any idea what he actually said, what he meant. You can make Jesus into absolutely ANYTHING you want to believe him to be. But that does not make it true. More people have died in his name than any other.…Continue

If a book guides you, my feeling is that such a book would not be as reliable a guide as love. Best to follow the heart, even foolishly at times, if one is to be a real human being. My heart tells me that the world is in a desperate state of crisis right now. I feel driven to stand up and do my part to try to lead where I can, and to reduce suffering where I can, and to never lose sight of the reality that it's not really me who is doing any of it. The human experience is but a fraction of who…Continue

The newer popular alternatives to religion, that come in the form of new age spirituality such as "The Secret" are just as loony as the promise of heaven for the believer, and a lake of hellfire for the nonbeliever. This ever so intoxicating form of delusion is simply more escapism - a new belief system to impose upon reality, in order to avoid true, honest and courageous self inquiry. In this form of wishful thinking the egoic mind is "meant" to have whatever it visualizes and this gets…Continue

The Jewel of Enlightenment is hidden in the lotus. Sure. But it's also hidden in the BMW website and in the faces of all the starving children. The Jewel of Enlightenment is hidden at WalMart and in the heart of your worst enemy. The Jewel of Enlightenment is hidden in every star and in every subatomic particle. The Jewel of Enlightenment is hidden in plain sight. The Jewel of Enlightenment is You.…Continue

If you consider yourself to be on any kind of spiritual path, you very likely have had a tendency to be too hard on yourself. You try not to think negative thoughts, to avoid judging others, to avoid "sin". One definition of the word "sin" is "separation from God". We want to avoid our dark side and become of "how we are supposed to be". This way of thinking occurs probably not as the result of religion, but religion has sprouted as the…Continue

I mean this metaphorically of course, but if there is an Anti-Christ, his greatest deception was to lead people to believe he exists in the future when in fact he lives in the past. His name is Abraham and out of him came 3 violent religions that have brought out the worst in mankind for the past 6,000 years or so.The new era, one that combines the greatest accumulated metaphysical wisdom (free of superstition) with the greatest sound scientific knowledge, is wanting to be born now, in our…Continue
