Biography

Bryan Keith Holland was born in Orange County, California to a father who was a hospital-administrator and a mother who was a school teacher. He is the third of four children of his family. He is the nephew of director Tom Holland and cousin of actor Josh Holland.

He was the class valedictorian at Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California and was a Ph.D. candidate in Molecular Biology from the University of Southern California (USC). However, he abandoned his Ph.D. in favor of focusing on The Offspring. He has a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Master's degree in Molecular Biology, both from the University of Southern California.

By the time he was in high school, he got turned on to punk music by listening to the Adolescents, Agent Orange, Bad Brains, Bad Religion, Black Flag, Circle Jerks, The Clash, Descendents, Ramones, The Sex Pistols, Social Distortion, T.S.O.L. and The Vandals. This was when he came up with an idea of starting a band and it wasn't until he formed "Manic Subsidal" in 1984 along with fellow band mate Greg K.

Dexter Holland is married to hairstylist Kristine Luna ('till 12/08/1995), who co-wrote the song "Session". He has one daughter, Alexa Holland, which he had with another woman. This woman is frequently reported as dead in a car accident back in 1996 on many websites. It has also been written on the Internet that he wrote "Gone Away" for her. There are no quotes from Dexter about it but one of our sources reported this fact to be false.

He has his own independent record label called "Nitro Records" that he created with co associate Greg K. in 1994. They produced bands like A.F.I., Guttermouth, The Damned, One Hit Wonder, T.S.O.L. and The Vandals. Dexter also founded with Jello Biafra the caritative association called FSU (Freedom Starts Underground).

He is a licensed Airline Transport Pilot and has made a solo trip around the world in 10 days with his own 2003 Cessna Citation jet 2. He also has a keen interest in stamp collecting, especially stamps from the Isle of Man

He participated in the 2006 Los Angeles Marathon; his charity of choice was the Innocence Project, a non-profit legal clinic that handles legal cases where post-conviction DNA testing of evidence can yield conclusive proof of innocence. Holland finished 7900th with a time of 5:01. Afterward, Holland signed his shoes and donated them to charity.

Dexter has his own brand of hot sauce "Gringo Bandito". According to the Arts & Music section of the newspaper "Los Angeles Times", Holland's Hot Sauce is bottled in a Newport Beach facility that distributes 120 gallons a week. Holland says that Albertsons has started carrying his hot sauce, which he reports is "huge for us".

He wrote the song "Tokyo I'm On My Way" to Puffy AmiYumi's 2006 album "Splurge". Holland was recently ranked 73rd in the March 2007 Edition of Kerrang ! 100 Stars Who Rock Your World List.
