Ten Years Ago

Voters overwhelmingly approved the $19.5 million Sewer Assessment District No. 2, paving the way for a sewer system to be installed that would serve their homes north of Foothill Boulevard, between La Cañada Boulevard and Gould Avenue.


Twenty Years Ago

The school board approved Aqua Artists' low bid of $95,000 to renovate the La Cañada High School swimming pool, which was reported to have been leaking up to 11,000 gallons of water a day in the spring of 1992.


Thirty Years Ago

Graduating Spartans and their families convened on the athletic field at La Cañada High for commencement exercises. The featured speakers were seniors Maura Hoffman, Brian Grady, Heba Alfi, Lisa Kiebel and Lynda Fisher. The Class of 1982 had 375 members.


Forty Years Ago

The Plaza de La Cañada shopping center on Foothill at Oakwood Avenue hosted a two-day vacation travel show on Father's Day weekend in 1972 that featured motor homes, trailers and campers.

R.A. “Bob” Wasson, once a presidential mess treasurer for the Truman administration and then president of the Utah Club Managers' Association, was named the manager of the new La Cañada Country Club, effective June 15, 1962.


Sixty Years Ago

The Pasadena school district in June 1952 was studying the formation of a redefined district that would exclude the children it was then serving from La Cañada, Altadena, Temple City and other unincorporated territory. The proposed district would extend only to the city of Pasadena's boundary lines.
