05-02-2007 - The first wine that comes to my mind immediately is the Marietta Old Vine Red, Lot #42. It is a blend of several different grape varieties, including Zinfandel. It is smooth and dry but has a lot of fruit flavors. Perfect for summer grilling season. And, it retails around $12. Give it a try.

05-02-2007 - Your best bet is to chill it down and give it a try. Cook's is a sparkling wine that is meant to be drunk upon release. Holding it 7 years means that there is a chance that the "fizz" may be gone. Give it a try this weekend and see what happens.

04-27-2007 - One of the major reasons that more and more doctors recommend a glass or two of wine a night is because of a compound that is found in red wines called resveratrol. It is thought to contribute to health aspects when taken in moderation. It can also be found in other grape products. If you tried a red Burgundy from France, then you might look for other wines made with the Pinot Noir grape. There are several good value Pinot Noirs from California and Oregon. Also, you might try some wines that are a "blend", like one of our favorites - Marietta Old Vine Red. It is a "field blend" of different grapes that is smooth. Another red blend that comes to mind is a wine from Folie a Deux, called Menage a Trois. Let me know how those do for you.

04-26-2007 - Mr. Cira, I'm sorry that you did not receive my reply on Feburary 14th. If you will look at my expert page, you will see that I did reply to you on the day that I received your email. Basically, the major import wines for Lambrusco over the past 30 years was either Cella or Riunite. They are both generic, soft, almost sweet-like versions. Unfortunately, there just aren't many importers that import Lambrusco. The majority of the ones that I deal with do not have one. But, I will continue to check.
