Netflix Just for Kids is launching on the Nintendo Wii today — the special category features content for kids 12 and under, and has only been available on Mac and PC until now. Along with targeted content, the section has a tweaked navigation system, letting kids browse through categories like "dinosaurs" or "princesses" and read simplified plot descriptions.
The announcement doesn't mention a way to automatically direct children to Just for Kids, but letting parents set a profile or device to show this section instead of the larger service could do a lot to bolster parental controls — one area where Netflix and other streaming video services have faced criticism. With Just for Kids coming to more platforms next year, we'll see if Netflix adds any features; for now, Wii owners can check it out today.
