A Video Guide To Gears of War: Judgment's OverRun Mode

We had a rare treat while visiting Epic Games for this month's cover story: we were able to play several hours of Gears of War: Judgment's OverRun mode. Combining the best parts of Beast and Horde mode from previous installments, OverRun pits class-based human forces against a variety of player-controlled Locust. After a particularly heated match, Game Informer's Dan Ryckert and Tim Turi sat down with the lead multiplayer designer Quinn DelHoyo to talk about what went right, wrong, and some advanced strategies for the future. Watch the video below to learn about the new mode from the developer that knows it best and to see Gears of War: Judgment in action.

  • It looks like great addition to the series. I'm especially excited for the multiplayer.

  • looks awesome! I wonder if baird is gonna be the main character in this one.
  • I thought he was going to avoid giving you guys a number rating at the end. Hanson did they let you play at all? Or were you stuck behind the camera?
  • Not the exclusive coverage i was looking for... But this will do for now.

  • That's great that they are changing it up.
  • Man, this mode is getting tns of buzz

  • This looks really fun. I'm not a big fan of prequels but this still will be a must buy for me.

  • I'm excited about Baird's and Cole's story is gonna be like and how the war against the Locust were 14 years before Gears of War and a year after E-Day.
  • Still wanna learn more about this mode before I am sold. I really loved Horde mode so I am hoping this outshines it.

  • AWESOME!

  • This was really cool, multiplayer looks awesome.

  • OverRun is looks snazzy.

  • Video not showing up for anybody else?

  • I have only played the first one and (gasps) wasn't interested in Marcus. I loved Baird and hope this is the entry I can really enjoy!
  • Is this DLC or something? I don't understand why a new Gears game with the same cast of characters is coming out so soon after the first trilogy ended. Same engine, same multiplayer modes with one new element and a name change. Epic and Microsoft are no better than Activision/CoD now in my books.
  • Son of a gun, I may be coming back to the Gear franchise

  • Somehow this looks like it will one up Gears 3.  Epic continues to amaze.

  • The spinning shield looks ridiculous and not in a good way. Hopefully they fix the animation on that because it looks dumb as hell.

  • awesomness brought to us by the great people at Epic
