It’s Memorial Day weekend in the United States, and Americans are spending time with friends and family, enjoying the first barbecue of the summer and remembering their fallen military heroes. Why is the color so “off” on all those photos?
Because Instagram users overuse the filters and turn good pictures into bad ones. I think most pictures are better without them.

Not to sidetrack, but is anyone else having trouble viewing PHOTO stories? I really want to see this and several others, but none of the “next”, “jump forward” or “view as one page” buttons respond for me any longer. Sent feedback, no response yet.

Mashable pages are often fraught with techinical errors. Errors in grammar and lexicon are frequent too but that’s another dept, lol.
I don’t need spellcheck, I just need better typing skills :P
it works fine with my Chrome browser – not with my IE – I get some of the slide show shots (not all) and when I switch to view as one page, I get one page but with 4-6 stories, not 12 or whatever it is supposed to be
Stars and Bars refers to the Confederate Flag. The picture you have posted is – naturally – the American Flag, which is referred to as Stars and Stripes.

PS: mashable should let users create a spam flag (a pre aranged set of characters, like a username ) which they would use repply to spammers (my personal choice would be spamalot) ,that would make spam detection a social layer thing. could even write a self serving article about it.

This was a super frustrating bait and switch of a story. All four teaser thumbnails were pictures of attractive women. Once you clicked through the slideshow, none of those images were present.

I wish I had payed more attention when instagram was released. I had no use for it, next thing I know Oprah is using it and now it’s creating a lot of buzz. Maybe I’ll take another look.
The picture in slide #8 is not of a tombstone of someone who died in battle like the description says.

I like the “off” colors, personally. However, many of these pictures seem to be ads for corporations…I’d prefer real pictures submitted by people not looking to increase their bottom line.
