After a Big Week in Cannes, Twitter Hit With Site-Wide Outage

After taking the limelight with major ad announcements at the Cannes Lions Festival in France this week, Twitter experienced a period of prolonged downtime on its Web site and mobile app on Thursday, with an outage lasting more than an hour before the service was restored. “Users may be experiencing issues accessing Twitter,” Twitter spokeswoman Carolyn Penner told AllThingsD. “Our engineers are currently working to resolve the issue.” It’s the longest site-wide outage since Twitter’s frequent “fail whale” early days.
