Apple sure is a sneaky one. Without any of the fanfare of the other WWDC announcements, the company released an updated version of its AirPort Express wireless router today. The most notable improvement is the added support for simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi, which helps optimize your wireless network for faster performance. It also adds AirPlay support and sports a new design that’s reminiscent of the Apple TV. The AirPort Express is available now for $99.

Apple’s New Smart Case Has Got the iPad’s Back

Amidst the hullabaloo of all the WWDC announcements, Apple quietly released a new case for the iPad 2 and new iPad today. Available now for $49.99, the Smart Case is made of polyurethane and now protects the tablet’s back side in addition to the front. Like the original Smart Cover, the front flap can be folded into a stand and awakens the tablet and puts it to sleep upon open and close. The Smart Case comes in six different colors, including pink, red, blue and green.

Huawei Activa 4G Launches at MetroPCS for $149

MetroPCS added a new 4G LTE smartphone to its lineup today with the launch of the Huawei Activa 4G. It’s Huawei’s first 4G smartphone in the U.S. and the most affordable one in the carrier’s portfolio, at $149.99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate) without contract. There are some trade-offs for the cheaper price, including an older version of Android and a smaller 3.5-inch touchscreen, but you also get a five-megapixel camera and a four gigabyte microSD card preloaded with “Kung Fu Panda 2.” The Huawei Activa 4G is available now.

The smartphone’s rear casing is made from 80 percent recycled material and ships with an energy-efficient charger that lets users know when the phone is fully charged.
