Welcome to my fig page. I grew figs for almost thirty years. I put this in the past tense since a divorce separated me from my collection. I wa forced to liquidate it except for one small plant. About fifteen years ago I began studying them intensively and accumulating a much too sizable collection of varieties. I have served as the Coordinator for the Fig Interest Group of North American Fruit Explorers (NAFEX).

This web site is not really intended for novices—although they may find Frequently Asked Questions useful. If you are a beginner, I suggest you first study the materials at the NAFEX Fig Page. The CRFG Fig Page is also very good. Otherwise, select one of the text links below:

The Figs of Israel and The Sycomore Fig pages were inspired, edited and photographed by Daniel Yakir of Haifa, Israel. the sycomore fig is a tropical relative of the common fig, Ficus carica. It has been grown in Egypt and frost-free areas along the eastern Mediterrean Sea for thousands of years. It is mentioned in the Bible and many people have asked me about it. Here is my answer to these questions.

NOTE 1: I do not sell plants or cuttings. I do sell The Fig Booklet, a 36 page guide to growing and identifying figs.
Just check out The New Fig Booklet page for details on price and how to order.
I have finally straightened out my links to PayPal so payments should be much easier in the future.

NOTE 2: I do not sell fruit--fresh or dried. A very good source for fresh figs is the Fig Lady.

NOTE 3: I do not return long-distance phone calls. Use e-mail. Please e-mail your comments, questions and suggestions to me at givan2009@comcast.net If you absolutely, positively gotta, musta, havta phone me and I am not home which is pretty frequently the case, do NOT leave you telephone number and expect me to return your call. Leave your e-mail address and I will get back to you.

This website was last updated July 25, 2009 to include remarks above and my new e-mail address and snail mail address.
