While many still remember the Vietnam era like it was yesterday, 50 years have passed since the United States first got involved in the conflict. Vietnam veterans are now age 57 and older, and many of them are dealing with end-of-life issues that are at least in part a result of their service.
After attending private school for nine years, Emily Paley walked into the doors of Newton North High School in 2008 unsure of what she would find.

Temperatures in Newton topped 90 degrees today. Staying home is one survival technique. But if your air conditioning system is busted and you’ve about had it with the fan blowing warm air at you, it’s time the get out of your sticky house and hit the road.

Newton officials are in talks with representatives from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority to open up trails to walkers and bikers along the two aqueducts that run through the Garden City.
Drivers will have to steer clear of parking on a section of Walnut Street. The Newton Traffic Council recently banned any parking on either side of the street, between Beacon and Forest streets and will make room for a bike lane, with plans to discuss more parking restrictions in the fall.
