Ok, checking /var/vm, I see the sleepimage file and it shows 17.18 GB. The other file, swapfile0 is 67.1MB.
Hope that helps! Let me know if there’s other info you’re looking for.

Joke to who? You? Maybe. Me, not remotely. I don’t need all that space for whatever you may have personally. Most of my stuff is in the cloud and if I need more space, well, those USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt external drives should be more than sufficient for added storage capacity should I ever need it.

That’s what I almost went with but my MBA with 256 was more than enough. If i do decide to get heavy into photo and video editing, I know I can sport for a USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt external drive and store my stuff on there and be content. Enjoy your purchase, well worth it IMO!

I can understand your opinion. I don’t agree with it as it relates to me personally. There was some “have to have it now” feelings on this purchase but most Apple products I don’t buy every update. I like my tech to last me awhile ;-)

The heat hasn’t been an issue for me per se but it does get noticeably toasty compared to the MBA I was sporting. I expected that, just sharing my observations. As to the comments about cooking on it and whatnot, that’ s just tongue in cheek humor by other folks I would say.
I don’t think your comments about the GPU “barely” being able to handle the resolution are remotely correct. I’m not a technical person but the GPU seems to be pushing it just fine and not breaking a sweat. I did get the 16GB RAM but the 8GB would have sufficed just fine too.

My fans haven’t kicked on and I’ve pumped in some heavy usage with photo editing (no video editing yet). Watched plenty of movies on 1080p as well and they haven’t kicked in either yet.
I’m not familiar with how to look in the /var/vm directory. If you know how to do this and walk me through it, I’ll be happy to oblige.

I don’t foresee that standard being an issue considering current speeds are more than enough. But thanks for the added insight ;-)

The size and heft are definitely something you’ll have to get used to coming up from a MBA. I use it around my house and when I travel for work I will take it with me so its primary mode will be portable usage. I don’t foresee it being an issue in short spurts but if you’re going to lug it around all day, the MBA will be missed in that regard I feel.
I don’t miss the Air much at this point other than it was very light compared to Pro which is certainly no “tank” to it’s credit. Good luck with your decision!

@purplesaltyqueso: The best way I can try and relate is it looks like magazine quality print just dripping from the display. The icons are so rich and vibrant and words just pop at you in terms of sharpness and clarity. I think some review have mentioned the magazine like feel and that is definitely accurate. Fair warning, sites and images that are not optimized are definitely “fuzzy”.
@MasterOfWisdom: I’ve no doubt you could go one step further and make a mean Denver Omelet. It does get toasty with usage and I’m sure 5 hours of video encoding would be a great griddle primer.

I suppose it would be, wouldn’t it!

I’m curious if this would have any implications to online dating sites such as Plentyoffish or OKCupid? Given that they’re sort of structured to allow a person to set themselves up as looking for casual sex…is that not a form or prostitution? Granted, money would have to change hands or be the basis of the sexual encounter. Dinner and a movie perhaps?!
In all seriousness, it’s a tough road to hoe for this judge as internet freedom is such a difficult thing to police!
