Wolves are close to finalising arrangements to play their Capital One Cup first round tie against Aldershot at Molineux on Saturday, August 11, with a 3pm kick off.
The Football League have given clubs permission to play the fixtures on the final weekend before the start of the season, and it is the preference of boss Ståle Solbakken to play the game on that date.
Aldershot have agreed to the date but we are awaiting confirmation from Aston Villa who will be required to release Wolves from the friendly currently arranged between the two clubs for August 11.
With a round of midweek internationals set for the week beginning August 13, Solbakken's preference is to play just one game in the week and not to disrupt training any further.
Moving the cup tie would also give supporters an opportunity to enjoy a competitive element to the final weekend before the start of the new npower Championship season at Leeds on Saturday, August 18 (12.45pm), in what will also be the new manager's Molineux debut.
Reduced prices will be available at the game with Aldershot, at £10 for adults and £5 concessions.
The date will, hopefully, be confirmed at the beginning of next week and further details regarding ticketing announced in due course.
