OOrganizer - to-do list

,

Hey!

It's been a long time since we released update for OOrganizer. Today we want to present totally new feature - to-do list. This is only the first and very basic implementation so any ideas are welcome! Have fun!

1)looks:
please, for someones sake - stop this terrible looking "sketch-style" lists. for todo or available calendars. cant you get rid of senseless lines in bg and huge line-spacing? it is digital, no need to waste place and make it look that "handmade"

1200px width? really? how about people who do not have ultraHires displays? they cant even resize it properly.
you definetely have to lower it to under 1000 or make it recognize screenresolution properly. 1200 width on 1280px width screen is horrible.it has to be centered/resized every damn time. i have been fixing it by hand in config.xml every release...

timezone selection not working and not cancellable - there should be no "not cancellable" actions. we can "kill" the task, but its not "proper solution"

and it migh be time to fix the background of "repeat until" dateselction...

2:) to do list? with just 1 line? what about description? events in calendar and planned things in "todo" need description fields. also ä- toDo needs some ind of timesheduling - so it "jumps" to the top of the list if deadline is approaching - redflashing and notifications also possible.
toDo's should be part of calendars - as non time specific events.

ideas:
if oyu can display calndars and toDos properly, like in mailpanel fo opera, you can show toDo and calendars in one column below, the display of mailaccounts/rss feeds in opera does it great

also - additionally to "description field" how about assigning toDo to calendars? some kind of "warnign in qadvance" like "buy a cake" should be a toDo for someone birthday - so i am reminded to get it whole time until the birthday.

The 'sketchpad' style is visual shorthand for a place that you make notes. It makes sense to me - at first glance you know exactly what it's for.

Finally todo's smile
Nice: You can drag and drop them into the calendar!
A description-field would really make sense (should also be transmitted on drag&drop then).
Will we be able to sync with Google-tasks anytime?

Geolocation not working here. At least a searchable dropdown would help much.

I like bleichers idea of an accordion on the left side!

Btw: Sketchpad-look is okay.

Specifics about this release
1.) I had to go to C:\Users\myProfile\AppData\Local\Opera\Widget OOrganizer
and completely remove the folder (my previous version) and re-install before I could import from google.

Things that still don't work.
1.) Auto detect time zone does not seem to work. I let it try for 10 minutes and then canceled it.

2.) All day events cannot be deleted, nor can they be moved from the "all day bar"

3.) Moving events via drag and drop does not work on Monthly view.

4.) Deleting events does not work on Monthly view.

Features I would like to see
1.) I would like the ability to set the data install path.
see http://my.opera.com/widgetsteam/blog/2010/10/27/oorganizer-1-0-beta#comment50771682 where I talk about this in detail.

2.) Will a version of oOrganizer have a descriptions or notes field with the ability to print? I talk about this possible feature here

I know I've asked about this a couple of times; has there been a decision on adding this feature or something similar? If not for final is it in the road-map? Others have asked for a feature like this as well and it would be extremely useful.

Thanks for this release. Hopefully oOrganizer will receive the same attention you've been giving to Twiget smile

Beginning to think that oOrganizer is abandon-ware. No updates in months! sad

Hopefully this is not the case.

Curious to know if there are any new builds of OOrganizer in the works?

It doesn't work on Opera 12 build 1174
