Fable: The Journey - Lionhead's Kinect spin-off does Fable j

Your comments on our articles.

It might not be a "proper" Fable, but it's a great one regardless

A first-party effort from one of the UK's most talented outfits, Fable: The Journey was always going to be an accomplished Kinect title. What's surprising is that it's a fabulous contribution to the Fable universe too. Looking back on my hour-long play-test, the moment I recall fondest was when I settled back in my seat, rested my hands on my knees and soaked up the view. My horse - far and away Lionhead's most convincing Ethical Fluffy Animal - trundled on contentedly, following the curve of the road without guidance.

It steers without you needing to steer it?.......

You'll occasionally leave the wagon, braving on-rails dungeon scenarios with a fistful of magic, but much of the game is spent in the company of a horse's bottom.

I thought this game wasn't on rails, I saw OXM Jonty and Peter Molyneux in a room with a whiteboard and people were signing the whiteboard... is the whiteboard a Smörgåsbord of lies?

The horse has a limited amount of autonomy, yes, just enough to manage gentle corners. It's not an auto-pilot, don't worry.

As regards the on-rails stuff - it's not an on-rails title in the traditional sense, but yes, there are definitely on-rails elements. The nearest thing I can give to a nutshell version is: action-racing with an RPG backbone and on-rails dungeon bits.

In case the preview doesn't make it clear enough, I thoroughly enjoyed playing.

Yeah I got the enjoyed bit, just worried by the on-rails bit and the seemingly autopilot horseys, my thoughts are less worried by your reply though.

Now peters gone atleast there wont be any false promises not hating the guy but ive seen his videos....ALOT of promises. I just hope this game is acctually good ive got kinect and so far the only decent games are ones like kinect sports and dancing ones and anyone that has tried something new has failed massively (rise of nightmares) .
