Why are you on European Square, joining the protest against parliament’s passage of the law elevating the official status of the Russian language?

Anna Yushchenko,
student

“I disagree both with the law and with how it was passed in parliament. It is a slap in the face. I am also very shocked with how apathetic the majority of people are. They just do not care.”

Leonid Brovchenko,
retired major

“When they introduced bilingualism in Belarus, the Belarusian language just disappeared. The same will happen in Ukraine if this law is implemented. I like Russia. I have many friends there. But they have to understand we are an independent country now, and we will protect our language.”

Maya Khmelnytska,
retired

“I come over almost every day to support the strikers. All citizens of Ukraine must know the Ukrainian language. I speak Russian in everyday life, but I love Ukrainian and I know it.”

Andriy Purek,
teacher

“Language is the soul of the country. Russia is pushing for us to reduce the usage of Ukrainian and spread Russian. It is all a part of their plan to hold Ukraine under their control. Ukrainian lawmakers are not patriots of Ukraine. This is a shame.”

Mariya Sheremeta,
agronomy student

“I come here to be with protesters often and also was protesting outside the parliament when they passed the law. The Russian language is in Russia and Belarus. It is international. Ukrainian is only here, in Ukraine. We should nourish and support it.”

I bet they all answered in Russian. Moreover, I bet the question was also asked in Russian. Pathetic! If these people really mean what they say, they should quit speaking Russian in "daily life" and start як-ати in Ukrainian (using a metaphor from elmer-ельмер - I think this name is of tartar origin)! Nobody has taken that right away from them! Ukrainian is still the sole state language in the Ukraine.

elmer-елмер July 21, 2012, 5:08 p.m.

See, the thing is, when the sovok mafia KAK-as in Rooshan - it's not a metaphor, there is real KAK-a coming out of their mouths.

The way this language bills was passed shows that the Party of Regions/Commies KAK-ad all over democracy, all over democratic norms and procedures, all of parliamentary norms and procedures.

It showed that there is no democracy in Zookraine - only a sovok mafia state, consisting of piano voting in a pretend parliament.

"Nobody has taken that right away from them! Ukrainian is still the sole state language in the Ukraine."

Indeed, and the MAJORITY Ukraine people unlike the orange idiots and their diaspora cronies understand the fact that in REALITY the Russian language is far more popular in the INDUSTRIALIZED part of Ukraine (the one Khrushchev stole from Russia) and there is no way for the majority Russia language speakers over there to abandon their native language.

The ONLY solution for the bastardized Ukrainian language to become a sole language in Ukraine is for the E Ukraine and Crimea to rejoin Russia.

elmer-елмер July 23, 2012, 4:34 p.m.

Your sovok mafia rhetoric lost its effect a long time ago.

It is based on the Nazi idea of characterizing everything Ukrainian - and Russian and Slavic - as "untermenschen."

The suggestion that Ukraine split apart and for one of the regions to join Putler was dead on arrival a long time ago.

Since the Russian language is far more 'poipular" - for a variety of reasons, including the russification of all countries in the sovok union - there is obviously no need for the language bill.

The people have obviously not abandoned their "native" language.

The bill is simply a political ploy.

"Life in Zookraine sucks - except for sovok mafiosi - but oh, lookie, lookie, here's a language bill to make your life better!"

Poor elmo, check how many people in E Ukraine accepted DUAL citizenship. MOST of them have both Ukraine AND Russian passports, heh, heh, heh :D

IvanovPetrovSidorov July 25, 2012, 9:06 p.m.

Hey, I like Elmer-shmelmer. He is a funny guy, only he hasn't yet discovered the marvel of an enema! Усё какаеть, да какаеть Heh, heh, heeeeeeh! :D LOL Gee?

elmer-елмер July 26, 2012, 12:22 a.m.

And your point is...........?

They might have dual citizenship.

That simply says that they don't know who they are.

And, as is typical in Zookraine, that they are up to something corrupt.

It also means that there is no need for the language bill.

You live in a toilet.

I'm glad that makes you laugh.

IvanovPetrovSidorov July 23, 2012, 5:07 p.m.
