LucasArts President Steps Down

LucasArts President Paul Meegan stepped down from his position today after joining the company two years ago. All current LucasArts projects will continue, a representative confirmed to Game Informer.

“Paul has been a valuable member of the Lucasfilm leadership team and we wish him the best in his future endeavors," said COO Mich Chau. "We remain committed to our current projects and will be re-evaluating LucasArts’ leadership needs to ensure that we make the right decisions to keep the studio focused.”

LucasArts says 2 members of its leadership team, Kevin Parker and Gio Corsi, will co-lead the studio for the interim until a replacement is found. Last month, LucasArts lost creative director Clint Hocking to Valve.

I hope this doesn't affect 1313, I was looking forward to playing a SW game that isn't about Jedi.

There was a time when Lucas Arts had some of the best games in the business. Now they seem to rely only on Star Wars titles. I would love for more games like Loom or The Dig.

I don't care what they say; Lucasarts is in trouble. They might be "too big to fail", with George's deep pockets involved, but we're going to be seeing significantly fewer projects, lower quality products, or both. I also have to wonder why it seems like they're hemorrhaging talent these days. Are these guys leaving like rats from a sinking ship, or are they being "encouraged" to leave for belt-tightening purposes? Whatever it is, I'm afraid we'll won't see our Battlefront or Force Unleashed sequels for several more years. And if we get them, we might not like what we see. The best thing they can do now is throw everything they've got into 1313, and hope it comes up aces.

Well all I can say is I hope they don't try and sell 1313 to everybody and dumb it down. A current Star Wars title in the adult scene would be quite welcome.

I hope the new president isn't a total moron. I don't know who makes decisions about game development at LucasArts, but whoever they are should be fired. They have three franchises just waiting for sequels that fans would go nuts over (Battlefront, KotOR, Republic Commando), and instead, they dump money into these glorified tech demos like TFU and Star Wars Unchart- I mean 1313.
