The 11 Weirdest Game Endings

Games don't make sense a lot of the time, but these ones really fall apart at the end. Check this list of game ending sequences that made us yell WTF?

Drakengard

So Drakengard, the third-person action game developed by idiosyncratic Japanese team Cavia and published by Square Enix, can best be described as a "noble failure." The action was repetitive, the graphics were poor, and the soundtrack was... not to everyone's taste, being primarily composed of degraded, repetitive samples. Oh, and the story. It starts you out in a generic fantasy world, but by the game's third act you're battling demons in Shibuya and there's all this incest stuff and... yeesh. So here's one of the game's five endings, which involves giant floating cannibalistic babies, suicide bombing and more.

One of the biggest challenges for a developer is keeping an enemy alive for possible sequels while giving the player a sense of satisfaction and achievement at the end of the game. Ritual Entertainment's 1996 shooter obviously wanted to keep enemy Elexis Sinclaire alive for future episodes, but they couldn't think of a better way to do it than this? First she distracts you with the concept of her vagina, then she teleports... into a rocket ship... while your horrible-looking main character yells "Nooooooo!"

Conker's Bad Fur Day

Okay, so taking this game seriously may be a mistake - Rare's R-rated platform adventure reveled in poop, fart, piss, and other inappropriate humor. But they decided to throw a very nasty little twist in at the end. During a confrontation with the evil Don Weaso, Conker's girlfriend Berri is brutally murdered by submachine gun fire. At the game's ending, Conker gets the power to literally rewrite the game world, which he uses to defeat the final boss... but he forgets to bring his lady back to life. And he doesn't realize it until it's too late. So there he is, abjectly miserable and surrounded by hateful cartoon characters. Nice work!

on MGS2: another wannabe critic trying to look "professional" by criticizing things he has no real i

please, if you can't appreciate Kojima's vividly portrayed world of conspiracies and interconnected individual plots, don't assume that you can see things more clearly than others and proclaim that you know better. honestly, i can only think that you're just too lazy to make the connections yourself. like Jason Basset said, George Sears/Solidus isn't Raiden's biological father, he's is the FORMER puppet president of the US, Arsenal Gear wasn't meant to "blow up" the internet, but to regulate it like China except on a grander scale, and the whole thing about the Patriots being dead for over a hundred years is meant to show that the info Snake extracted was FAULTY and meant to throw them off track. unlike most game designers, Kojima actually has the sense to begin thinking about the next game in the series while making the current one. in the end, simple-minded wannabe critics like you just want to look cool and smart by refusing to see the depth that some great minds can put into gaming. Japanese creative thinkers like Kojima have their own style that involves a lot of plot and detail, but that doesn't mean they dont make sense. you're probably the kind of person to play a game like Bioshock and ignore pretty much every intellectual detail just because you refuse to see gaming as a medium for ideas that actually make you think. hype only really happens for two reasons in today's world: corporate marketing scams or that the thing being hyped is actually good. stop trying to look professional by assuming everything is the former. get with the times, gaming is a revolution in storytelling, stop bogging it down with your moronic expectations!

Metal Gear Solid 2

The franchise does have an unusual storyline that consists of twists, and unexpected character relationships, but there are some that aren't very good. The second game is probably the worse whereas the others are fair in their approach on the stealth genre. It won't take long to complete on the gameplay itself, but the cutscenes take up the time of your gaming pleasure. Maybe we are the suckers for buying Kojima's games that actually make us sit through hours of video footage. You be the judge.

MGS 2 Ending

"A swordfight with the President of the United States who is also your clone dad and has tentacles on top of 'Federal Hall!'" Actually, George Sears is not techincally Raiden's father. He was his adopted father during Liberian War and trained Raiden how to be a soldier. George Sears is the perfected Clone of Big Boss, who's sons are actually him, Solid Snake and Liquid Snake.

To Grand Moff Bassett

It warms my heart to see someone keeping the UGO editors in check when it comes to Kojima's expansive Metal Gear franchise! You sir are a true "patriot" , "La-Li-Lu-Le-Lo", and son of the boss! *salute*
