Forty X-Rays: In Conversation with Sue Ridge

Join Sue Ridge, artist behind the innovative contemporary art exhibition ‘Forty X-Rays’ as she discusses her inspiration behind the project. With opportunities to ask questions of the artist and view the exhibition on the evening this event promises to offer you a new perspective on the Forty Hall Development Project.

The Story of the Forty Hall; History, Architecture, Restoration & Archaeology

The Enfield Society host an evening exploring the story of Forty Hall& Estate. Speakers will include architectural historian Paul Drury, architect Brian Lofthouse and archaeologist, all of whom have worked on the recent Forty Hall Development Project.

2012: A Year of Pageantry

Join Forty Hall's curators Gavin Williams and Zoe Prosser and cultural historian Dr Tracey Hill as they discuss the history of pageants in preparation for the recreation of Rainton's Pageant on 3rd November 2012 in Enfield.

Understand the history behind these historical ceremonies; look in more detail at the Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant, understand Rainton’s relationship to the Pageant and look forward to Forty Hall & Estate’s appearance in the Lord Mayor’s Show in November this year.

‘Making Homes’

Forty Hall & Estate was designed originally as a home and remained so for many years until it was bought by Enfield District Council in 1955. Join Forty Hall curator Zoë Prosser and curator Zoë Hendon from MODA (Museum of Domestic Architecture) as they look at Rainton’s home and what life would have been like at home in the seventeenth century.

‘Food for Thought’: Festive recipies from the 17th century

Come dine with us in our Jacobean kitchen as expert in food recreation Claire Passaris looks at the delightful festive delicacies of the 17th Century. Understand the impact of religion on cookery over Christmas, delight in the lively demonstrations and take some recipes home with you.

An evening with Richard Layzall

The highly regarded and acclaimed live artist Richard Layzell joins us to talk about his latest installation at Forty Hall & Estate. Revealing his personal exploration of the Hall through performance and work with local community groups Richard will offer a valuable insight in to live art practice and his work at Forty Hall.
