I haven't heard from Roy, admits Terry as Chelsea skipper faces Euro 2012 omission

Chelsea skipper John Terry has revealed he has yet to hear from new England manager Roy Hodgson about his possible involvement at Euro 2012.

Hodgson confirmed upon his appointment he would speak to both Terry and Rio Ferdinand before picking his 23-man squad for next month's tournament in order to determine whether they could play together.

Hodgson is understood to have been in touch with Joe Hart, Wayne Rooney and his former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard in the last 48 hours, pointing to the possibility Gerrard may skipper England in the tournament.

Terry faces trial in July after being charged with racially abusing Ferdinand's younger brother Anton, an accusation he denies.

'I've not had any call yet but I'm focusing on the league and Chelsea at the moment,' Terry said at Chelsea's Player of the Year awards.

'Hopefully, I get the call and I'm in the squad - and that goes for many of us here. 'I'll always be there for my country.'

Aside from the legal case hanging over Terry's head, questions have been asked of his form after he endured a torrid time in Tuesday's 4-1 defeat at Anfield, with Liverpool striker Andy Carroll dominating him for 90 minutes.

Terry, who was made to look foolish by a couple of nutmegs by both the England international and Luis Suarez, did not help himself with an untimely slip to allow Jordan Henderson to race through unchallenged and score the second, while he also lost Carroll at a corner for the third goal

Uhm pretty sure everyone is making a fuss over nothing. Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Hodgeson already say he was not going to bother the Chelsea players untill following the Champions League final. - Sean , Castlebar, 11/05/2012 12:23 Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Hodgson naming his squad this coming Wednesday? So, going off your argument, there will be no Chelsea players involved this summer?! Great =))

The FA told RH he would get the England job if he promised not to pick JT.

All this talk of JT being to old but his performances for Chelsea speak volumes. He is a strong player and a born leader and I think the England team might struggle without him. - Chelseafan, High Wycombe, Bucks, 12/05/2012 07:16 Yes, his performances DO speak volumes. His sending off and subsequent denial and excuses against Barça speaks volumes about the man. His performance against Liverpool on Tuesday night was laughable. If squad places are given out on performance alone, he should not be going to the Euros!

JT was brilliant against Liverpool on Tuesday. Giving the ball away and slipping all over the place like Bambi on an ice rink. On that performance he couldn't play with my local team of boozy salad dodgers.

Leave terry at home if there are other decent options. Likewise rooney, if anyone needed to be taught a lesson it is him. To take a player who is banned for the first two games is ludicrous, and what message does it send to the forwards who play in the first two games. This is a good opportunity for the manager to start as he means to go on. The trouble with rooney is, when the going gets tough the toys go out of the pram.

Keep Parker, Ferdinand, Gerrard, Ashley Cole, Rooney, Hart. Then add Richards, Walker, Baines, Cahill, Smalling (injured?) Jones, Sturridge, Welbeck, Wilshire, Cleverly, Ashley Young, and some of the the other younger players I cant think of right now. Bin the rest of the old guard off, maybe keep Carrick for his experience aswell but not as a starter.
