dreamhold.pngInteractive fiction can be intimidating and Andrew 'Zarf' Plotkin, a central figure in the world of contemporary text adventures, has done everything in his power to ease gamers into it. From the famous i-f postcard to 2004's The Dreamhold, he has strived to provide us with a welcoming entry point to the wondrous power of interactive text.

What's more, Zarf just ported The Dreamhold over to iOS and made it freely available to anyone with an iPhone, iPod Touch or (ideally) iPad. The port, more of an update really, has been fully optimized for touch-screens, sports an incredibly handy dynamic in-game map, supports achievements and even allows for audio input and output.

The Dreamhold, though primarily designed as an interactive fiction tutorial, is a full length adventure with numerous side-quests, unique puzzles and an expert mode that will appeal to the veterans of the genre. Obviously both the writing and the plot are excellent, but this is something you should most probably have expected from Zarf.
