Please Pray for the O'Rourke Family
Posted by Lisa Hendey in News on Thursday, September 13, 2012
Please take six minutes and watch this video of Amy O’Rourke, a Catholic wife and mom—the widow of Police Officer Patrick O’Rourke who was killed on Sunday by a gunshot wound. In this heart-wrenching video, Amy speaks of her love for Patrick and how her faith is helping her to face the unthinkable loss of a beloved spouse. Amy’s testimonial here is a master class in letting one’s faith truly shine.... READ MORE
Did You Dine?

We were some of the oh-so-many folks who flocked to Chick-fil-A today to support that restaurant. I braved the crowds (which I generally avoid at all cost) to plunk down my money in support of this great company.
My Instagram stream was filled with photos of friends who had done the same—stood in line with hundreds of other people to wait and order and take a stand.
What exactly was I taking a stand... READ MORE
Eat Mor Chikin

Have you been keeping up with the hoopla surrounding Chick-fil-a, the delicious fast-foot restaurant founded by conservative Christian Truett Cathy?
If you aren’t familiar with the restaurant itself (I know not everyone is blessed to have them nearby like we are down here in Georgia!)—it’s a wonderful place that serves delicious food but more importantly has a high standard for itself as a company... READ MORE
Ringing Clear

My 25-year-old unmarried sister reads a lot of blogs (and writes one of her own). She recently complained to me that no one blogs about marriage.
It’s not exactly true - there are plenty of people out there writing about marriage generally, or giving tips on how to improve one’s marriage. But it is true that we don’t blog about marriage the way we do about parenting. The marriage category on this blog,... READ MORE
Caring for the Sick

This Lent, I kind of signed off of blogging here. I had been a part of the Lenten booklet that I was able to publish daily (except for the last week! I’m so sorry, I set up a week’s worth of posts and went out of town and none posted. So I didn’t get those last posts up).
Right now, I’m in the middle of a difficult season. It’s not what I would call the hardest season I’ve ever been in, only because... READ MORE
On Friendship

I was fortunate to attend the Behold conference last weekend. The speakers (especially the lovely, brave Kate Wicker) were inspiring and the Holy Spirit was definitely present there, not just in the Adoration chapel and during Mass but among all the attendees, women of every age and vocation doing their best to learn about God and serve him.
My twins came with me, and fortunately a friend came along... READ MORE
The Results of Your Prayers
Posted by DariaSockey in News on Monday, September 19, 2011
Introducing Harald Anthony Martin Mathie, my first grandchild. The one I asked prayers for just about two weeks ago when he was delivered at 28 weeks’ gestation.
Baby is doing very well. He’s been breathing on his own right from the start, and seems to resent the c-pap oxygen feed, frequently pulling it off as if to say, “I don’t need this thing!” It will probably be removed in another week or so,... READ MORE

We are deeply grateful for any way you can support Faith & Family Live, but most of all for your presence and participation in the Faith & Family “family.” You are what makes us great. Thank you for being here.

The approach of a new school year, with its many changes after a long lazy summer, is often a good time to reassess and update the family’s spiritual life as well. In addition, the coming of fall weather makes many of us feel more energized and ready for new challenges. A new challenge you may wish to consider is Catholic Family Boot Camp.
This slender volume give 30 days’ worth of simple activities... READ MORE
Who Cares for Caregivers?
Posted by Danielle Bean in Family on Monday, June 20, 2011
A reader writes:
“I am writing you to ask about any Catholic bloggers out there who address caregiving of others. My mother is the sole caretaker of my father who is in the moderate/severe stage of Alzheimers where he can still speak, but he cannot
finish a sentence on the phone. He does not remember and he has whole libraries of books that he has forgotten.
My mother is a devout Catholic and would... READ MORE
